Reviewed 30 August 2011

We have recently returned from Hotel Lagomonte on the 22nd of August. Travelling Me Male 38 Big Eater Big Drinker. My wife 46 likes peaceful time and good food Daughter 9 years old very fussy eater loves swimming.

Firstly lets put a few things straight.

The lake is in fact a salt water lake and is fed by a canal so cant be stagnant and smelly the smell must of been something else.

The Food

Mentioned on here a few times is the fact they only serve Chicken, Pork and chips. WRONG.

There is a wide selection of food for breakfast, lunch and evening meal. I have listed a selection of foods we had.

Brekkie. cereal, Bacon Sausages Eggs (fried freshly for you scrambled and bolied) Baked beans Toast fresh fruit yoghurt and the best selection of fresh pastries ever seen( pan a chocolat croissant,s fruit turnovers.

Lunch. Hot 2 Meat dishes 1 fish dish 2 veggie dishes 2 pasta dishes 1 rice dish. Cold. At least 4 cold salads(coleslaws and cold pasta mixes) 20 different salads. (lettuce cucumber sweet onion tomato etc.) Unlimited fruit all drinks 12 different desserts. (recommend hazlenut ice cream).

Dinner. Hot 3 meat dishes 1 or 2 fish dishes 2 pasta 1 rice all the cold stuff again, 1 night Paella. ample food for children (pizza, burger , sausages Chips) all the desserts and a great cheese and biscuit board.

Meat selection we had in 1 week.

Pork x3
Chicken x2
Veal x2
Beef x2
Paella (excellent)
Lamb x2

So for the people saying only chicken and pork....Learn to read.

Yes there are chips available at every meal if you dont want them dont have them.

Cant fault them, they work tirelessly from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm, they keep all the kids entertained at the partypool during the day and adults entertained during the evening. Pool games, archery, rifle shooting, killer pool to name a few. Kids club looked great for the under 8s.

The evening entertainment was always of a good standard. We had outside entertainment come in 4 times in the week Chinese cicus was great watch his face (you will know what I mean when you see it). Spanish evening really good even the dodgy Karaoke was great. Parrot show and Reptile show for kids was really good. TOP TIP take photo yourself when your kid has snake around their neck or they charge you £15.

Highlight of the night for many people, big prizes on offer TIP (get 2 drinks before the bingo as it is the only time the bar gets busy is straight after the house is called)

There are 2 bars during the day, the hut near the party pool were you are served by the friendly staff all manner of drinks availble and ice creams. Snack bar by the island pool. self serve soft drinks beer and sangria. along with snacks salad burgers sausages and chips. Beer is fine not the strongest but what idiot just wants to get drunk every night.

The night bar is manned by a minimum of three staff all drinks available local spirits red, white and rose wine on tap. TIP get ice for white wine as not the coldest.

There are 2 pools the main one Party pool next to the hotel great for kids over 8 who like to go mad for 5 hours and play games. We went to the island everyday, this opens at 10am but you need to get in line about 9.15 - 9.30 to get the bed you want. If you dont dont worry as the grounds are glorious with about space for 50 - 70 towels or lilos under the trees or in the sun all day.

All in all a great hotel for a 3 star you will not get cleaner the maids clean daily change towels daily and bed 3 times a week. we had a mountain view which we thought best as was cooler in the morning and hotter in the evening when you get away from the pool.

get a second swipe key and leave in slot all day for air con to stay on.

try and get late room direct from hotel best 25 euros spent as able to get washed and changed in own room.

Market well worth a trip nice walk round the old town, lovely shops and cafe's

Beach is a good 15 minute walk away try and get bus if going there, but would recommend staying by the island pool. and enjoying free drink and food.

This was our 2nd time at this hotel and enjoyed it just as much if not better than the 1st time. The only thing that let it down really was the food, but it didnt spoil the holiday because the two occasions that we didnt fancy anything we went out to eat instead. The food over at the island was allways hot and i enjoyed this better and on wednesday and friday lunchtimes there was a barbeque over there and was really nice. The drink selection was good and on an evening were served in glasses not the plastic ones that you got through the day.The bar staff were a bit miserable to start with but if you spoke nice to them and smiled they were a lot better. The rooms were spotless and cleaned every day.our room 402 had a lovely view of the island and got the sun all day. The air con wasnt as good as it could have been but have had worse. It was a 15 minute walk to the beach but there was a courtesy bus that ran every half hour. The entertainment was ok and the team worked very hard to get people to join in. A Robbie Williams tribute was on one night and kareoke on two of the nights which resembled the eurovision song contest but was a laugh. The bars and restaurants were nearby so if you fancied a change they were easy to get to.The sunbed situation was just the same, the beds were locked up till 9 oclock so you had time to get breakfast then get a sunbed all though some people did get up to get there spot and placed a towel on an umberela base. There was a shortage of umberelas and these were also locked away untill 9. I would suggest buy your own umberela and use the bases that are about as there are plenty. The only thing that let the holiday down was the transfers up to resort and back , we travelled with JET 2 and we dropped off at pollensa and it took quite a long time , the next time we go back to alcudia we are going to get our own transfers .all in all we got value for money and would definatly go back .

Very clean. Professional courteous staff. Great selection of food in restaraunt. Over 7 days, the menu was rotated and not repeated a single time so I can only conclude that the bad reviews are obviously from people who cannot cope with fresh fruit and veg. Yes the selection is poor if you only eat pub grub, but when in Rome......

we changed from bellevue club last minute after reading awful reviews, thank god we did!!we loved this hotel, spotless rooms maybe a bit dated but ok.maids changed beds and towels daily.staff were excellent.lovely english ladies on reception..we loved the quiet pool on the island opposite,no problems getting sunbeds.we were very surprised how quiet the hotel was, never a problem with getting food drinks, never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for either.dining room lovely and quiet..food was more than adequate, not a lot of choice but have had a lot worse in more expensive hotels.the bar that was opened in the evening served drinks in proper glasses not plastic cups as most a1 hotels do..as i said we managed to change our hotel from bellevue but unfortunately 16 friends and family were unable to.bellevue club is hell on earth as witnessed by ourselves.the other group never ate a single meal there due to the queues and slop that is being served..hope this review helps.would use this hotel again

Room Tip: ask for pool view

we arrived at night after a 2 hour journey from airport to an awful smelling lake but carried on regardless and checked in smoothly no problem except them bloody wristband which me and my partner cut off as they were annoying and never once got stopped!!

food was good especially salad selection very fresh n lots of choice, as for the food to go with salad we only had 1 dinner time that was decent food. as i say the foods good but the selection is very unusual. one night we had pork chops and sardines! desserts were fab n fruit selection fab too.

Maid service was every day new towels very very good!!!

air con was not too good set to a temp which was not very cool and cannot be adjusted so we hired a fan for 18 euros and 10 euro deposit but essential for a decent sleep. we did get a receipt but unforunately we miss placed it but thought it would be recorded on their record anyway no prob, which is was but only for 5 euros which means the male recptionist pocketed the other 5!!!

Good hotel if you wish to stay at the hotel 24/7 which we didnt. Also the beer they serve was mohar which we later found out was only 2.7% to stop and disturbance drunkness may cause!! as my partner wound say it doesnt even have a head!!
