The 2 bathrooms were nice to have , the lack of air conditioner can give problems if your room backs onto the street.the location is ideal you are very close to the sea. We loved the pool it’s large and there are plenty of sun beds.

Room tip: Depends on your personal taste ,we prefer the sea view rooms ,as we like the sound of the sea .

Fantastic hotel and all staff are so friendly and helpful. We opted for the sea view room which we both personally found very relaxing listening too whilst in bed at night. The rooms don't have aircon but we found that opening the balcony doors and allowing the wind to cool the room worked for us although we obviously didn't keep them open at night. The location is very good, a stones throw from the docks and a 5 minute walk into the main town. Also the restraunt attached to the hotel is extremely well priced and good quality although when we asked for 2 extra sausages we only got 1 (on two separate occasions) but a small price to pay considering the price and taste which was very good. Overall will definitely be returning at some point and staying in the Dunas!

First visited this Hotel back in 2003 as a family - this time we came as a couple. Elected to go for Bed and Breakfast - which is a great idea - and also a room with a Sea View - not such a great idea, but more of that later.

Good weather for two weeks made for a pleasant stay overall and I would be happy to come again.

By location I suspect that this is the furthest north premises in the resort, just a 2 minute walk north of the port makes it isolated from the majority of the other hotels and the other end of town from the majority of the commercial premises - it is on the 'Wally Trolley' route though and you are really convenient for the harbour trips and also the ferry to Tenerife

The room.
Firstly - THERE IS NO AIRCON. Deal with it, it's hot but dry and so just use the fan and enjoy the weather - you are after all only 90 miles from the coast of Africa...
As I said, I elected for a Sea View room and so we got a room on the second floor at the front, over the Restaurant. The room itself is an a-typical hotel room with a small complete bathroom with a shower over the bath - good and hot, a small kitchenette, 2 ring hob, microwave and sink. Kettle and toaster etc hidden in the cupboards. Twin beds that clamp together to form a double bed with a gap in the middle (!) a sofa, table and 2 chairs. Small Flat screen TV. Balcony with an integral washing line and patio set on it - and a stunning view of Lobos Island. A lovely clean spacious room with all that I needed.
The only issue I had was my own doing. If you take a room with a sea view forget the romantic rhythmic sounds of the ocean waves folding gently on the shore - what you get is a constant crashing of waves, 24hrs a day, seven days a week....Oh well.

The hotel is probably a bit like the Forth Road Bridge and appears to always have updating and renovations going on - there is always a man up a ladder working on the lights / fire alarms system or just decorating...If it were mine, I would change the dark paint on the walls in the communal corridors for something a bit lighter and maybe a different colour for each floor....just a thought.

The staff all appeared to be competent at their jobs and were efficient and happy to help.Concierge service are good and knowledgeable about the area and services available.

The swimming pool has been renovated and is now an irregular shape with 23 sides, no corners and a safety area for non swimmers and young children. It was always clean and well conditioned and the hotel provide a dedicated on site lifeguard for 8 hours a day. Max depth 1.5m the shape is not conducive to serious swimmers and obviously designed for fun - and here is the paradox... The whole pool area is raised up to a level that is above the ground floor but below the first floor level and accessed by stairs from either above or below. No easy access for disabled or mobility challenged...... then there are the 'Rules' which discourage diving, pool toys, balls and inflatable toys....so it is a bit difficult for younger children to enjoy the pool area, which frustrates families and in turn breeds resentment for the staff who have to try to enforce the rules - mind you, the enforcement is a bit flexible depending on who is on duty at the time....

Also, the pool area is set in the middle of the hotel complex and surrounded by the rooms on all four sides. Local birdlife like to sit on the roofs and then treat the pool as a 2 million litre birdbath - much to the chagrin of the lifeguard who has to try to clean up after the birds...... They even have an electric decoy in the shape of a big plastic owl on the roof and some overhead thin lines to break up flight lines - they neither of them work.

So - everywhere has good and bad points - here, the good far outweigh the bad and I would certainly come back and recommend this to friends...

Room tip: Inside rooms overlook the pool - outside view is non to impressive - and the ocean view is nice, but noisy.

We have stayed at these apartments many times in the last few years with no complaints. This year the reception and pool areas have been upgraded and look fantastic. We will definitely return in the future.
