Four of us were looking for a lunch in mid afternoon, the restaurant is situated on the sea front in a lovely setting. We had the menu de dia which at €16 is probably more than you would normally pay but on this occasion it was well worth it. We had the peppers and aubergines for starter, my son had the tuna and cod salad. For the main course, three of us had the chicken and crayfish and my son's girlfriend had the cod. All dishes were substantial and very tasty. The chicken was mouth wateringly good. The service was efficient and friendly. I note that some reviews think that this place is a 'tourist trap' but I disagree, all of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal in a wonderful setting. The al a carte menu is more expensive but again looked substantial.
Having seen this restaurant looking busy each night as we walked past, we thought we would try this on our last night in Cadaques. We really wish we hadn't. It was the worst meal we had during our holiday here.
Saying that, the starters were very nice, we loved the garlic prawns and the goats cheese salad.
The mains were really not great. We had steak, which was chewy and gristly, and the shoulder of lamb. This was OK, but certainly not delicious.
The service was a little rushed and impersonal, it certainly wasn't anywhere near as friendly as many other places we visited, at times the attitude was offhand.
Personally I would recommend just trying the various restaurants just off the front, as the food and service were much better.
We arrived quite late for lunch when the kitchen was about to close. However, even though we had to order quickly, the service was great and the food amazing. They let us take our time to eat, there was no rushing at all. Great place with a really nice atmosphere!
