History, history and more history. My family enjoyed our time here. Wished we had more time to explore. The living museum covers a large area with easy walking. I believe every American should make this trip and remember what our forefathers.

There is an inside museum with a film that is great. It walks you through time periods from before the time the first ships came over and settled Jamestown to when the Virginia capital moved to Williamsburg. If you take the time to read all of the plaques you can learn a lot about the history and conditions of the time. Once outside we went to the fort reconstruction. Having been to the Jamestown dig site (the actual site of the fort) and knowing the history of what they have found it was neat to see it represented but we also knew there were some discrepancies simply because they are still finding artifacts at the dig site that enhances their learning. We walked down to the the 3 replicas of the ships the settlers came over in. Wow, what an eye opening experience. To see the size of the ships that they crossed the Atlantic Ocean in is incredible. The Powhatan village was a bit underwhelming. Overall I would like to see more plaques outside to help describe the various buildings and settings.

We loved the ships especially. Eye opening to see the way they were crowded in to such a small space for so long. It is remarkable to experience the history.

This was great forme - a history buff. But my husband like it as well and he is one of those people who can go thru a museum in very little time. We both enjoyed checking out the exhibits. It was done so very well.

We visited the historic settlement and were very impressed with the facility. The building was fairly new and contained great artifacts. The only problem we encountered was a local power failure which closed the theatre. We enjoyed going to the authentic Powhatan Indian village outside and learning about Powhatan life from the docents. The replica ships were very interesting and amazing how small they were for an Atlantic Ocen crossing.
