This area (San Juan Islands, WA) is the best kept secret of the Pacific Northwest. Deer Harbor Inn was intimate and quiet. The staff was helpful; however, they weren't around most of our stay. The rooms are small, but comfortable - maximum of 2 occupants. I would stay here again if I ever visit the area again. This is a place for couples.

Room Tip: Get a room on the second floor

We booked the entire Lodge and Pond Cottage to house many of the guests for our daughter's wedding, and had our rehearsal dinner at the wonderful onsite Deer Harbor Restaurant. We even used Deer Harbor Catering for the wedding itself at a different site. It was a fabulous experience from beginning to end with staff members going out of their way to care for our unique needs. Highly recommended for large groups that want to hang out together in a spectacularly beautiful setting.

Room Tip: I completed my daughter's wedding cake and hosted numerous family gatherings in Pond Cottage during the wedding weekend. Perfect!

The Pond Cottage was very nice, nicely appointed, stocked very well. The beds were awesome, tho' we do not sleep well on foam. We ate out mostly, the restaurant on site was very nice; not open as advertised. It was expensive!

The questionable? We saw no one, called repeatedly to no avail. No cleaning instructions. None of the remotes worked for TV, DVD, etc. Lights flickered at night. A little personal service would have been greatly appreciated.

Honestly, I got a great deal from groupon, but I would pay full price to stay here. They did some obvious upgrades, so now both rooms have king size beds and a futon in the living room. I would say that six people may have been too many, so next time I would only have four come. If you bring an air mattress, two slept in the living room while the others shared the bedrooms.
Overall the cabin was clean, and very quiet. The grounds are pretty small, but you don't feel like people are around you. We saw bunnies, and deer. Plus two cats that must live on the property. The pond cottage was perfect for our relaxing getaway! The hot tub could fit four, and smelled like chemicals, but was pretty clean. We only used it one night. The kitchen was perfect for the meals we cooked. Had a coffee pot as well to make some early morning coffee.
The town Eastsouth is amazing, it's small but has a lot of little shops around. And it was only like a 20 minute drive from the Inn.
Overall this was an amazing experience!!

Room Tip: Pond Cottage was largest on the property. If you get on the deck of the restaurant, you can see a view of the harbor.

My husband and I stayed in Orchard Cottage #1 for a two night getaway. It was better than expected. There have been upgrades done since the pictures were taken. The bathroom was clean and bright, including a bathtub. A very nice leather couch and kitchenette with a sink and burners were a huge bonus for us, as my husband has severe food allergies and we cook all our own food. A nice Weber BBQ was also available. It was lovely to sit on the front deck as see the peek a boo view of the water and play cards. The back deck had a private hot tub, which was clean. It was a little on the olderside and could use replacing, but it was warm and nice after a long day of hiking. The grounds were beautifully maintained and it was close to the ferry and Turtleback Mountain South Lot. We're already hoping to return. I used a GROUPON for our trip which made two nights for the price of one. If I can get a deal again, I'd like to go in the Fall or maybe even take a whole week next year. Quiet, Peaceful, and nice to not have to deal with other people.

Room Tip: The Orchard Cottage #1 was amazing and if you're cooking any meals, we highly recommend it.
