We were with a group of 20. Had reservations. Morning of the tour, someone called from office to say they had boat problems and needed to move our mid-day tour to late afternoon. My notion is that this happens fairly often. See previous Tripadvisor posts. I have to wonder if the real reason for the change is that the company is so they are not out the expense of a second trip..., if they can combine into one, cheaper for them.
Crew member on board introduced self as our "on board naturalist." However, her comments and response to questions seemed to be more Wikipedia-resourced than someone with actual degree. Some questions she was not able to answer. Other times she was pretty vague.
The info we got prior to cruise mentioned my ticket covered on board snacks. There weren't any. When we asked about this, the crew member indicated you have to get them from the office BEFORE departure---but no one who works there revealed that.
We did see three whales--in the far, far distance.
Thanks so much for providing us with some feedback from your trip out with us. We would like to clear up some of the points you made about your experience. We do have several boats within our fleet all consisting of different parts and purposes. They all have to meet strict safety requirements set by the Coast Guard. With that being said we would never allow a tour to depart before having remedied all safety and operating concerns first. We understand this may come at an inconvenience but we feel it’s most important to provide a safe experience first and foremost. Delaying or cancelling a tour is another issue we avoid at all costs. This is never a preferred solution for either the guests or our staff, and certainly not something we would ever do on purpose.
We are not able to see the specified terms on all tickets purchased through third party sellers, next time let us know at check-in so that we can happily provide you with the snacks you were expecting prior to leaving the dock.
Lastly, we are thrilled we were able to accommodate the large group comfortably on our vessel same day! We recall working vigilantly and thoroughly to quickly remedy the problem in order to not delay your party any further.
It sounds like you had the pleasure of viewing multiple whales! That is certainly not an everyday occurrence and we’re happy to hear your group was lucky enough to view these whales from the safe distance guidelines set by the state and wildlife associations. We hope to see your group out again and always hope to provide our guests with the best experience we have to offer!
