“9 Hole course”

Orcas Island Golf Course

Attraction details
Owner description: At the heart of Orcas Island located in the San Juan Islands off the coast of the State of Washington. One of the most breathtaking and enjoyable, yet one of the best kept secrets of the Pacific Northwest. This quaint, challenging regulation and WSGA rated course, now 50 years old, has all the nuances required by both amateur and professional golfers. It offers excellent Astoria Bent greens, well designed tees and fairways plus dangerously positioned water hazards, all surrounded by beautiful evergreens, abundant wildlife and the magic of Orcas Island.

Convenient to navigate and not too challenging. Driving range. Reasonably priced. Able to get tee time on weekend

Beautifully kept greens. Other than that a disaster. No one there at scheduled 8 am tee time. No one there are 9:30 am two days later. Girl in pro shop is clueless about what should be in a rental set. Priced way too high for what it is--a cow pasture with nice greens.

Whilst this may not be a top class golf course it was a lot of fun. A really friendly welcome and one of the most relaxed rounds(we actually played 3 times)you can have. Yes there was a lot of times the ball was 100 yards down the hill from where it landed but this was all part of the charm-you have to play the conditions and the course and you get used to it. We all have to remember that golf is one of the best group games you can have where there are different standards of players and it was a joy to play a course where you didn't feel under pressure. Normally this time of year I'd be playing championship courses at Slaley Hall in Northumberland which are fantastic courses but I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to visit Orcas and to play this most welcoming of short golf courses-great for families to play together.

We are decent golfers, not pros. This course makes your local city course seem like a 5 star course. You will hit a great shot and not be able to find your ball, because it rolled to the bottom of the next fairway. We quit after hole 6 because we couldn't find hole 7..,,bad signage and good luck finding the tee boxes. Pretty scattered...The couple we were following also quit after 6. Big waste of time and money

The guy behind the desk was very friendly, helpful and informative. I thought the green fees after 2pm with a cart were a little steep ($50) for 9 holes but we were on asland and is the only course available. (I walked for $30).
The course is in average condition and the greens were nice but slow. There some gimmicky/strange parts of the layout but overall it was enjoyable couple of hours.
