My husband and I went to Orcas Island on short notice. Although I grew up in the NW, I had never been to the islands. We hopped a ferry and landed on one of the most beautiful places in the world. Homey small town, rolling hills, cool beaches and trails, and an unbelievable view from the top of Mt. Constitution. It was our 22-wedding anniversary and we had a wonderful time.

Fortunately, for us spontaneous day-trippers, there was a vacancy at the Kangaroo House. Jill and Charles made us feel right at home and settled us in the Chickadee Room. It was cozy, summery and downright charming. The rest of the house was just as delightful. It is a Craftsman/Victorian/big bungalow with a warm ambiance that comes from comfortable furniture, lots of wood in the architecture and a beautiful garden just outside.

We spent the day exploring as much of the island as we could, given our short time there. Then went back to the Kangaroo House for a lovely night of quiet, restful sleep. In the morning, we had coffee in the library and then a fabulous breakfast. I have to say, I don't like pancakes. However, these were not your ordinary pancakes. Charles said there was cheese in them. The texture and taste was totally yummy, especially with the homemade, warm strawberry sauce on top. Another treat they served were little loaves of blueberry bread. To die for! Like Buttah (for you SNL fans).

We have already made plans to return. There's no way you can experience the whole island in one day. Besides, the Kangaroo House beckons. We want to come prepared next time with bathing suits for the hot tub. Nor can we wait to savor another of Jill and Charles' breakfasts.

My wife and I headed to Orcas to celebrate our 28th Wedding Anniversary. The Kangaroo House was a wonderful place to decompress from our hurried daily life, to relax and just enjoy time away together. The inn is nestled into a heavily wooded lot and interiors are warm and homey, with craftsman style furnishings and other antiques. The delicious breakfasts are wonderfully prepared and artfully served. Charles gives just the right amount of attention, yet privacy is optimal. There is a hot tub a stone's throw from the house, down a lighted garden path. It was perfect for relaxing after a day of hiking up Mount Constitution. We look forward to our next stay, as we dearly want to return.

My husband and I visit Washington pretty often, and wanted to finally go to Orcas Island after hearing about the whale watching in the San Juans, the great restaurants on Orcas and of course the fabulous hiking at Moran State Park. My sister had been to Orcas last year and loved it, so we headed out for a three day jaunt and stayed at the Kangaroo House B&B at her recommendation.

Charles was waiting for us with big smile, checked us in, gave us a tour and brief interesting history of the house, and even carried our bags up to our adorable room, the Goldfinch room. (The other rooms were really cute, too. I peeked in a couple of them as we were leaving. Each one is different.) The four poster bed and view of the deck and giant trees was exactly the peaceful setting we were looking for. Before walking into Eastsound, we nibbled on some chocolates and tea (me) coffee (Dan) out in the library, which had some nice craftsman architecture books/magazines and every board game known to humanity. After Dinner at the Inn at Ship's Bay, which was out of this world, we came back and had a nice conversation in front of the fireplace with a lovely Brittish couple, before turning in early.

As we headed into breakfast #1 the next morning, the earlier risers told us we were in for a treat. Jill appeared and served us a three course meal with a gourmet stuffed tomato dish and spinach feta sausage, a fruit compote that melted in our mouths, and hot buttery banana bread. Breakfasts 2 and 3 were also unique and equally fantastic. After summiting Mount Constitution, we really needed the soak waiting for us at the K House garden hot tub. We donned our little white robes and tip-toed out to the secluded garden deck and melted away every strain amid the blooms and sprawling trees... bliss.

I can't remember a more enjoyable vacation. It felt like a cross between summer camp and Fantasy Island with Jill and Charles as our personal hosts and guides to beatiful Orcas Island. I'm ready to go back now!

We stayed here for 2 days during our honeymoon tour of the Pacific Northwest. When we arrived, Peter took us on a tour and explained where everything was and how everything worked. We stayed our first night in the Steller suite and the second in the Chickadee room (a scheduling snafu, which Peter & Helen remedied by giving us the suite at the same price as the Chickadee room). When we walked into our suite, there was a Congratulations! banner hanging over the bed, a nice touch.

The breakfasts were phenomenal. The gardens are beautiful. We enjoyed a private soak in the hot tub both nights (you sign up for 45-minute blocks). The second night, we spied a pack or raccoons by the tub (or they spied us). Very nice, welcoming place. We recommend it.

My husband and I stayed here for my birthday and we could not have enjoyed our stay on Orcas Island more. Our suite was wonderful with plenty of room. It was quite comfortable and very quiet. Our breakfast was delicious each morning and we enjoyed views of the gardens and watching the innskeepers' cats in action along with the birds that would feed on the deck. The hospitality was wonderful. We wish we had taken advantage of the outdoor jacuzzi but hopefully we can next time. Would definitely recommend this place and the past reviews were right on . Wonderful bed and breakfast establishment. Will return.
