We love PT, and the Bishop Victorian is ideally located to enjoy this town on foot. Just a block from the long water frontage, many lovely spots are easily visited. The room and staff were terrific; our rating would have been much higher, except for the ability to hear others coming and going.

We loved the Bishop Victorian Hotel in Port Townsend. Great location near downtown, but isolated enough to have minimal street noise. Check in was easy and even though we were early our room was ready. Beautiful building full of antiques and old pictures. Our room was on the third form and was very spacious with a large sitting/dining room, kitchenette, separate bed room, and bathroom. Everything was extremely clean and in great condition. We appreciated all the extra perks which were included in the price of the room - free wifi in the room, delicious candies, bowl of apples for snacks, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate plus movies and microwave popcorn all located at convenient areas around the hotel. My husband enjoyed the coffee and he tends to be very picky about it. We also took advantage of the in-room breakfast which was delivered in the morning in a cute basket left outside the door at either 7:00 am or 9:00 am depending on your preference. There is a menu with a number of options and you let the front desk know what you what. Simple meal, but very tasty and an easy start to our day instead of finding a restaurant for breakfast. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Port Townsend.

The good: The location of the hotel is right downtown. Many restaurants and shops located nearby. King room (3rd floor) was very large. Bed was OK. King room had full kitchen setup. Funky old building with lots of character.

The bad: Room was fairly dated, old furniture, drapes, carpet, etc. Shower faucet was broken (they "haven't had time to fix it"). Limited hot water - shower fast if you here the neighbor! Skip paying for breakfast (pictured) - you just get to select items from a bunch of processed foods. No A/C, but windows did the trick on our stay. On warm days this will be a problem. No elevator, very steep and long stairs to get to the rooms. Overall a disappointment based on the ratings.

Room Tip: No elevators and lots of stairs. If you have limited mobility, don't stay here.

Conveniently located close to the old-town shops and restaurants, the Bishop offers an old-World experience that is delightfully different from modern contemporaries. Housed in a building once used as a boarding house 100 years ago, our room (13) was comfortable and well equipped. Comprising lounge/dining room, bedroom (king) and small separate bathroom, all our needs were met. The kitchen area features microwave, fridge and coffee machine (good quality coffee with creamers rather than 'powder of death').
In addition to the pull-out couch that could accommodate other family members, there is a separate armchair and dining room table and two chairs.
A flat-screen TV is provided with a good selection of SD and HD channels along with a DVD player (discs available at no charge)
WiFi is free but rather erratic in signal strength, and this proved a little frustrating.
The bathroom is compact and needs more shelving to accommodate wash-bags and the like.
All rooms are situated on the second and third floors, and access is via a long but wide staircase, so might not suite the elderly and infirm.
There is clearly no kitchen on the premises, so breakfast is continental and ordered the previous night. We felt there should have been a better variety of cereals.
Parking is provided for guests.
Overall, we enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Bishop and recommend this hotel.

We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us! We have updated our Victorian-era building for modern amenities, but it still has its quirks. We hope to see you next time you’re in Port Townsend!

The building is intriguing, the decor is authentic, the room was immaculate and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. What more could two tired travelers ask for? Oh yes, they said our little dog was welcome as well - terrific!
