We had a King Bed Suite and were impressed for the very affordable cost.

THE CHECK IN - The front desk staff beamed with smiles as I entered the front doors. They were cheerful and more welcoming than I have seen at many hotels costing twice as much. They informed us that not only was breakfast included but also cookies and milk at 7pm.

THE PARKING - They have a small parking lot and share it with a strip mall. We saw lots of signage declaring that cars would be towed. Thankfully we did not park in one of those spots.

THE ROOM - Very, very large room with an oversized mini fridge with the first usable freezer I have ever seen in a hotel room, microwave, paper plates/napkins/plastic utensils, desk, bed, tv and a sitting area.

The bed was very comfortable - perhaps a little on the soft side. The extra pillows we had requested on our reservation were already in the room and included a selection of soft and firm pillows.

The hotel is close to many restaurants and markets but there is no restaurant or bar onsite.

The room furnishings are older and the bathroom floor had many a cracked tile but it was overall clean and functional

THE WRAP-UP - We would stay here again but also noted many more hotels in the area that had larger parking lots that were not shared with other businesses.

As long as you are expecting a budget hotel experience you will be very satisfied with this property. Reception is bright and airy with friendly and helpful staff, and stocked with coffee and fresh cookies!
The rooms are spotlessly clean, but are a bit dull and dark due to the colours of the décor and smallish windows. The room is however large and the bed and pillows comfortable , a 40" TV, and air con. The rooms at the back of the hotel are a little noisy due to a petrol station and parking area behind the trees, but I'm not sure rooms the other side would be any quieter. The bathroom was a little old fashioned, but again spotlessly clean with a good spread of vanity products.
The best part of this hotel and stay was the amazing complimentary breakfast. At a budget hotel with a free breakfast you expect nothing much, but here you get tea/coffee and a selection of juices, cereals(hot and cold), selection of pastries, bread/bagels/toast, and a hot selection, scrambled egg, bacon , sausage, and more of the homemade cookies! I doubt any of the competition can beat this hotel at this price.

The Holiday Inn Express Tacoma is a well-run establishment located close to I-5. It's strengths are the friendly staff, convenient location and large, open rooms.

The outside parking spaces occasionally seemed almost full, but is manageable. The helpful front staff made check-in a pleasant and fast experience. The room was a very good size and seemed clean. The bed was comfortable and the large TV was fine. There was a useful small fridge. I appreciated the ample sink space in the bathroom, although the overall space could be a little expanded. The free Wifi seemed pretty good. There really weren't any issues with bothersome outside noise or room temperature.

The breakfast is included and is decent in taste and choice, although it could be switched up a little bit. The eating area is spacious. I didn't get to check out the fitness center. Checking out on the last day was super easy.

Overall this is a good choice if you need to be based in Tacoma. Recommended.

The room itself was spacious and beautiful. King bed, micro-fridge. Handicap room, adjacent to the breakfast room which in the mornings could be a bit noisy. The worst part of our stay was the transits who frequented this hotel property. On Saturday night we came out to go to dinner and there was a transit in the parking lot with a fifth of whiskey hitting patrons for money. Sunday morning we came out to go to church and two ladies were under the gazebo hanging out. We returned at 5:30pm the ladies were still there. Not to mention the transit who was sitting on the hotel bench hidden by the bushes. The morning of our departure one walked right past our window in a hoodie. Nothing on that side but trees and water. What was he doing back there, further more why doesn't the owner get this placed cleaned up. Security here, is none. The police were called on Sunday because of an incident.

Dear Judy P,
Thank you for taking the time to share about your experience at the Tacoma Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites. We value you as a guest and truly are working to improve the level of service we provide. We are happy you enjoyed your beautiful spacious handicap room, however we are disheartened to hear you experienced problems due to transits. We are currently building a fence to secure our parking lot, we have one entrance access into the hotel for security purposes, and we are working with local law enforcement to keep our property safe and secure for everyone. Unfortunately, homelessness is nationwide epidemic and plagues more than just the Tacoma area. We take guest safety very seriously and are taking every effort to improve our grounds for everyone's sake. Our owner, management, and front desk staff care about your feedback and will continue to be a hotel you can trust. Until next time...
Best regards,
Alex K.

They have the standard holiday in breakfast. There is a Denny's across the street. There is also a mexican restraunt across the parking lot that has breakfast, lunch and dinner. I went to the BJ's at the Tacoma \mall, and it was good for dinner. Wired and wireless internet.
