The house is newer, clean and was more then spacious for the 4 of us. The fact that it has 2 bathrooms was one of the reasons we chose this rental. It was furnished with pretty much everything you should need to cook and relax (even a dishwasher). Don't plan on watching the rather small tv as the only means is an antenna that pulled in a few very spotty channels. We missed seeing the news and the girls missed The Bachelorette, but we survived. We didn't have a mosquito, gnat or fly problem at all but did encounter some ticks. View to the water is somewhat blocked by trees, but we still had no problem seeing many eagles and several brought fish up to the trees near us to eat. There is a nice wrap around deck which we used daily. There is a fire pit next to the deck, which we used once with some fallen wood that we picked up. The owners do have wood available for purchase at the unit and also there are multiple places in town selling it. I didn't count the stairs down to the dock but I would guess around 35 or so, most of them are wood and in good shape, a few were blocks. The dock was rather short for the pontoon we rented, but it worked out ok. There is not any type of beach or flat area by the water, rocks line the shore and the steep bank starts immediately, which is pretty common in the area. The water was not full of seaweed or other growth by the dock so getting the boat in and out was easy. I did hook a very nice northern right off the dock and panfish were plentiful. They had a kayak and inner tubes available if you wanted that type of activity. The road in front of the house is pretty quiet and we went for numerous walks.
This was a nice small modular vacation home on a beautiful northern Wisconsin lake. It worked well as a fun getaway for a two night reunion of two couples. Besides having Happy Hour on the porch, we also used their kayak for a paddle on the very scenic lake and enjoyed sitting on their dock to dangle our feet in the cool water. Watching birds feeding at the next door neighbor's feeders provided some extra interest at our breakfasts in the dining area with its full- length windows.
We enjoyed tasty pub food including fish fries two evenings in the dining room of Pokegama Inn and also had fun shopping at the Chetek bakery, antique store, and fabric/yarn shop. This location was convenient for visiting the Chippewa Moraine Ice Age Reserve Park with its informative visitors center and great Circle Trail.
The owner was easy to work with and provided a folder with info re home and community.
Home was quite new and well- maintained..

My husband and I brought our 9 month old twins with us for a 5 day stay. We couldn't have asked for kinder, more accommodating hosts. The next door neighbor was friendly and kind, too! The home was spotless and looked practically brand new. It had everything we needed for our stay and we were able to make it baby friendly fairly easily. The bedrooms were cozy and quiet and though we didn't get out on the lake much, but there was a kiyak and tube available for us, and we enjoyed walking the steps down to the dock and watching the sunset on the water, and eating on the porch outside. The home is just a 5 minute or so drive into Chetek and there are restaurants with breakfast buffets and ice cream places for the afternoon. There is even a drive-in movie theatre just 10 minutes away! Our hosts met us when we arrived and live only 20 minutes away so they were on hand if we had any issues. Highly recommend this home!
