First, let's get to the good- both the indoor and outdoor pools are great and the lobby is somewhat attractive.

The guestrooms, however, were a different story- they were as old an tired as I felt after a restless night on the uncomfortable bed. It appears the rooms have not been updated since...well, since never I'd guess, since there is nothing about them that could possibly be an "update" from any previous era.

The stay was not cheap, either. If you MUST visit Dodgeville, I would pass on this place. It is too bad there are very few acceptable options.

The hotel does offer tour packages, but you will end up paying too much for the hotel. I guess if you have young kids and need someplace with a good kiddy pool then you might want to stay here. Be prepared for a room that is small, the beds are hard, and the room smells from some type of strong disinfectant, kept me up. The cleanliness leaves something to be desired.

The rooms here are very small and out of date. The swimming area is nice for kids, but the hotel has little to offer for adults. The bed was hard and "broken down" on the side. If there was more competition in the area, there is no way they would be able to charge as much as they do for a room. Next time we are visiting the area, we will drive a little farther to stay in a nicer place.

We stayed on a Saturday night after a wedding reception an hour away. The desk person was swamped but was very pleasant with everyone. It's a beautiful hotel with one kids pool complete with a "submarine" which has slides into the shallow pool. There is also an adult pool and hot tub beyond the kiddie pool. Very nice lounge areas and bar. The second story deck overlooks the outdoor pool.
The room was very large and clean. The bed was a little hard for my taste and there could have been a couple of more pillows. All and all it was a very nice experience and
we will stay there again if the chance arises.

If you are visiting the House on the Rock, you don't have much choice in hotel accommodations. Considering the name and price of a room, I was very disappointed in our room. The lobby decor is beautiful, and the staff is welcoming. The room, however, had a very odd smell of sour, cheap perfume masking cigarette smoke, in a non smoking room. The carpets were filthy. While it was nice to have 2 sinks, the one in the bathroom had not been cleaned in a very long time, sporting a red, slimy ring around the faucet, complete with someone else's hair. The little soaps packets were wet. The pool was very nice. There is an outside pool (closed at this time of year), and a nice inside pool. Next to it is a giant fish submarine for the children to play in, with slides and showers. While that is very family friendly, be prepared when you turn on the TV, which automatically brings up an initial menu of how to buy porn. Pretty creepy!
