We stayed in room #2 (there are only 6 rooms). It was first floor and next to the office. It had a double bed, microwave, coffee pot, and mini fridge. The room was $45 a night.
CHECK-IN & OUT: Upon check-in the room is left unlocked and two keys are in the room. Upon check-out you just leave the keys in the room. You will never see the people that run the motel.
SMELL: Upon arrival there were two air fresheners plugged into the wall. The smell was so overwhelming that we immediately unplugged them to avoid any allergy or asthma issues. By morning, the room smelled "old" so we plugged one of the air fresheners back in when we left the room for the day.
BUGS & INSECTS: There were about 10 bug carcasses in the window sill. The globe of the small light on the ceiling was FILLED with dead bugs. We never slept in the sheets of the bed. We slept on top of the comforter, used towels for pillows, and used our own blanket. We killed a beetle in the bathroom and there were spiders in the bathroom. There are bug guts smeared on the wall up near the ceiling.
WI-FI & CELL PHONE SIGNAL: Although the motel advertises free wi-fi, there was a note on the bulletin board in our room (#2) that you will have difficulty getting signal in the room. The note states that you will have better reception on the porch. The porch is so mosquito ridden that sitting out there is not an option. They need a WI-FI extender or booster. I have Verizon and the locals said that was the best for coverage. The cell phone reception was one bar of 3G, at best. That is when the signal decided to work, as it was intermittent.
BATHROOM: The toilet tank leaks as there was a towel on the floor behind the stool to catch the drippings. The bathroom sink is slow to drain and the water pressure is low. The shower walls look like they had never been cleaned. There were soap scum dirt drips on the walls. The provided soap in the shower was Equate brand HAND soap from Wal-mart. There was no shampoo or conditioner provided. The shower pressure was good. We wore flip flops in the shower as we didn't want to risk standing in the dirty tub.
AMENITIES: The mini fridge worked and was within arms length of the headboard. So you can reach a beer from the fridge and never get out of bed. I would describe this as a bachelor's heaven. We never used the microwave, but the front of it was sticky. We did not use the coffee pot.
POSITIVES: Easy to find, nice parking, cheap. If you are a bachelor and looking for a cheap place during hunting season, then this is the place for you. For all other people - STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.
