This rebranding of the Joey Gerards restaurant was done on the cheap and it shows - the interesting lighting with a nod to mid century modern was replaced with black iron "wagon wheel" lights with fake flame light bulbs. Pictures of the rat pack replaced with pictures of cows.
Front of house was poor. The hostess told a young girl to follow us to our table and give us menus. Um, HOW DO WE KNOW WHICH TABLE IS OURS? Water arrived with entrees and was only refilled once. Bread never arrived at all - although we had plates. A server coming around with a basket and using tongs to ration out bread is just plain odd. The wine, recommended by the amazing disappearing waiter, was watery and not really enjoyable.
Other tables were offered carts of steaks and samples of the new menu items. We were lucky to see our waiter.
My food was good, although portions are smaller (and prices higher). My husbands steak was flavorful, and his request for "mushrooms on top" was a stack of onions, with maybe 3 mushrooms.
All in all, we'll be looking for a new favorite place.
