I am 52 years old and have come up to WLB for the last 48 consecutive years. We come up the same week every year and return in early September for a guys golf outing. I spent one fabulous week every summer since I was 4 and have so many great memories of the place I could write a book. The cabins are basic, and most of the cleaning gets done by the family who had it the week before you. We always clean our cabin before we leave and the maid then comes in and changes the bed linens and does a basic sweep and dust. If you are a germophobe or clean freak either figure on cleaning the cabin when you get there or don't go here. I am not sure how to put this but you really need to chill out and overlook the small stuff and let yourself have a good time. The lake is clean/clear and terrific. The beach is a favorite spot to hang out and have fun. You will not find a television or phone in any of the cabins and the effect of that is a major decompression from the stress and chaos our busy lives have become. If you are very lucky your cell phone won't get service down in the valley by the lake. I learned to water ski behind the rental ski boat. I caught my first thousand bluegills off the end of the dock, had my first summer love on the beach, drank to excess for the first time, stayed up all night looking at the unbelievably clear skies and saw shooting stars and satellites crossing over. I became friends with the other families that went there that same week every year. We ran around on the beach until way later than we could at home, caught frogs, lit fireworks and so much more. I am now a dad of kids in their twenties that have been there every year of their lives and have almost exactly the same memories as I do. They start counting the weeks until we're up there on the day we are leaving. It is a magical place you just need to understand it.

I caught more bass here than way up in Hayward Wisc. Tough for beginners to back their boat in the dock. Nice cabin. Woke up to what I thought was a peacock but turned out to be a noisy neighbor with a sleeping mask aparatus... thin walls. Loved being able to get a beer on site. Also drank at the golf course across the street. My friend Siega finally broke 100 on the course ... so it wasnt that challenging. Enjoyed great dancing down the street ... saw some foxes... can't wait to go back.

Awesome beach, fishing , water sports, restaurant/bar. Even the shot Dr. Was there for my sons lessons, (in the parking lot) only $130 an hour, $125 if you sign up for 48 lessons, He promised he would be a D1 recruit. However by his 3rd lesson the shot dr was pouting because he had not caught a fish all week. The resort is perfect and affordable, as long as the golfers stay home.

We were introduced to White Lake by friends of ours that have been going there for several years. We now go twice a year. If you are looking for 5 star dinning and roomservice, this is not the place to go. This is a place for a family to go and and enjoy themselves together. there is something for almost every age group. Once you are there, you never have to leave and it is an all in one resort. A wonderful lake view, shady tree areas, safe walking, swimming, boating, and you can make you own choices as far as food go. You can cook together or you can enjoy someone cooking for you. Peacocks walking around and entertaining the kids all day long. I will be taking my family there for several years to come as long as I can get in...sometimes there is a waiting line for reservations...

Room tip: All of the rooms are good rooms, however, if you want a view, Lakefront is the best

I booked the rooms online based on reviews I saw here on TripAdvisor. The selling point was the motel, bar, and restaraunt on location so we could park the motorcycles then spend the evening eating, drinking, and socializing. We didn't want to be driving back and forth to town to find food and drinks. All the cabins were taken so we got 3 motel rooms. Yes, the rooms were a bit older, but they were clean, the bathroom was clean and the window unit AC worked well. I loved the pine panelling and vaulted ceiling with pine beams.
The best part, though, was the food. Outstanding. Chicken Marsala; pecan-crusted Walleye; and stuffed shrimp were what we ordered. The waitress was excellent and very friendly. The meal was about 16-18 dollars an entree ; but it was a Sunday night. It was worth it, and we didn't have to drive so we could enjoy drinks with our meal. The bar was great, too. Great selection of drinks; and Sarah entertained us with tales of the history of the resort.
We walked along the beach after dinner, talked to other guests, toured one of the cabins. There were alot of families cooking out and kids playing on the beach and in the lake. There's an arcade for the bigger kids, and a sunroom at the end of the motel rooms where they have games and paperbacks for guests.
I'm conflicted about the peacocks. I like the novelty of them. They are pretty to see walking around; but they do leave droppings and feathers everywhere, and some of them roost in trees above parked cars...so you can imagine what might happen. I'm so glad we didn't park the motorcycles under a tree.
The resort could use a little maintenance as it is older, but the rooms were an extremely reasonable rate and the other amenities make up for it
Overall, we had fun and would stay there again if passing through.
