Loved the atmosphere great place to stay owners were fantastic!
Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in Spring Green is nice. Lots of unique places to visit and eat at. Will definitely return. Very laid back and relaxing.

Needed a place near Taliesin so booked online. Arrived quite late in the evening but staff friendly and accomodating. Rooms very pleasant with FLW theme. AM breakfast included was very good. Seating in Lounge, "Pat's Place" comfortable with view of the surroundings: bird feeders and bird bath, pretty gardens.
Excellent stay.

We have migrated to Spring Valley Inn after our favorite b & b in Spring Green closed. For visits to American Players Theater it is probably your best alternative, with some qualifications. This review is based on 3 nights on 2 trips in the last month, plus one night 11 months ago. This is a traditional motel, one floor with windows that you can open (!), plenty of parking, attractively situated on lawns with woods behind, nothing else really close. Although it is at the corner of a US and county highway, it is very quiet at night. It is designed in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright, appropriate since Taliesin is a few minutes away. This means rooms are compact but comfortable. Again in the Wright style, bathrooms are quite small. Furnishings are also in the Wright style, which means simple lines, small chairs, not much closet or table space . . . functional. The rooms and bathrooms are kept very clean (well mostly - there was a dirty washcloth hanging from the shower head when we arrived on one visit); bed linens are updated, beds a bit soft for my taste but comfortable. There's a small refrigerator (no freezer compartment) in every room, and an attractive lounge area mid-motel has a microwave for guest use and free ice. Lighting is a bit dark in the rooms. WiFi works fine; my computer remembered the password from one visit to the next a few weeks later. Location is excellent: a few minutes from the theater, Taliesin, and Spring Green while in a lovely, quiet rural spot. Note that many cell phones do not work in this area, a long-standing problem.

There is a free breakfast, which is pretty good. Each morning freshly scrambled eggs and sausage patties are the hot dish, plenty of breads, fresh watermelon, and beverages (toaster waffles but no waffle maker); they had kringle on the two most recent visits. The breakfast room is pleasant, or you can eat in the beautiful bar/(former) restaurant steps away; good bird watching there. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

At the same time, there are some negatives which I simply can't overlook. Most important was a distinct musty smell, faint but clearly there, in 2 of the 3 different rooms we stayed in. There must have been a major maintenance issue sometime in the past. The furniture is attractive but watch out for the wood platform which protrudes from the bed – if you walk right up to the bed to get in at night, you will wipe our your foot (I did – twice). There are some signs of wear and deferred maintenance here and there, e.g., chipped wood in the bathroom. Sinks are old, but apparently are about to be replaced – in the gym last weekend 36 new sinks still boxed were stacked in one corner. Ah, the gym. In theory it is the most spacious and well equipped I've seen in a motel this size. But when time came to use it, I found most of the equipment was antiquated and not maintained (e.g., a partially working spinner, one of two treadmills out of service, the other far outdated, one station on the workout tower missing, broken plate on the calf press, etc.); no towels. There's a pretty swimming pool and enormous changing rooms for no obvious reason.

If you're attending a play or visiting Taliesin, this is probably still your best bet; location will make up for the negatives for most people. And the price is reasonable, especially mid-week.

Room Tip: All 2-bed rooms face the woods. All 1-bed rooms face the county highway. But all are quiet.

This hotel is located just a couple of miles away from Taliesin, Frank Loyd Wright's home and architectural studio. The hotel was clean and the staff pleasant. Breakfast was good. We enjoyed our stay, and had a good, quiet night. However, the rooms are in need of freshening. Bathrooms are tiny and fixtures in the room have a 1990 look about them and are a little worn.

We enjoyed a short stay at Spring Valley Inn on a Sunday evening before taking the 4 hour estate tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taleisin the next morning...relatively modest looking from the outside with clean comfortable rooms...FLW visuals posted throughout rooms corridors and common areas...

An extremely attractive light bright soaring interior lounge space with lots of tables and chairs for breakfast and relaxation...unusually inviting...and far beyond most motels...good tasty quick breakfast with plenty of choices...

Add to that a fantastic beautifully designed athletic facility with lots of natural daylight...featuring an exceptionally large swimming pool...jacuzzi...sauna...and complete locker room facilities so hotel guests can shower there as well...this athletic complex is much more spacious and user-friendly than those I've used in most big-city luxury hotels...I enjoyed a mile-long early morning swim there to start my birthday and celebrate the start of my new year...highly recommend it!

Staff recommended Freddy Valentines for dinner in Spring Green which turned out to be excellent...a lovely eatery in a historic setting...a former bank right in the center of town...and delicious fresh food...

Overall a terrific experience!
