This restaurant is close to the ferry from the mainland of Wisconsin and we dropped in for a quick meal at lunchtime before taking the Cherry Train Tour. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was fresh, well prepared and plentiful.

This restaurant serves good quality, honest American food at a very fair price in pleasant surroundings with views of the lake. Happy to recommend it.

This is a casual restaurant run by the family. They manage the marina and the restaurant. They are Washington Island people. Will the father came from Chicago. Loves his Blackhawks and White socks. The family is friendly and helpful. We have had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Food is fresh, good and reasonably priced. Most likely in the summer your waiter will be one of the grandkids. It’s a restaurant and family you want to support. The big plus this year is we saw a otter behind our boat and that is the first time I have seen one in Lake Michigan.

We had time for breakfast after the morning ferry ride, and before the Cherry Train. I have to say, tho, it took forever to get our meal served, so keep that in mind, understanding it was very busy. The windows were all open, so there was a nice breeze off the water...,a little too breezy to sit on the lovely deck. The decor is fun to look at, and it was very clean. The waitresses were friendly and helpful..they just needed another pair or two of hands in the kitchen. We had eggs and toast, hash, coffee...all very good. We would go back again, just being conscious of the time available.

Matey's or families if you are looking for a great family owned and accommodating spot for breakfast try this. Affordable, and excellent service. Great view of the harbor and the arriving ferry's. The homemade cherry and rubarb jam for my toast was delicious, eh. The attractive, kind, and friendly waitress told me her mother made it. The family of 6 that came in was played a happy birthday song for their young son and we all sang for his birthday to celebrate. I went home with two jars of the best, premier, chunky, cherry jam with a hint of rubarb on this side of the Yukon River. Thanks Mom!!!
