We are mainly campers, so this was a splurge for us. We travel with three kids, so we are no longer into luxury. This is everything it was billed to be-a historic hotel, not a snooty luxury Jackson hotel. The gunfight was great. We will never forget the Cody Nite rodeo. We went to several rodeos this year, and this one is definitely for tourists, but the kids loved it! This is for people looking for a place with a bit of character, definitely not a cookie cutter place.

Irma is the cornerstone of this great little town. There are beautifully appointed historical room, and then some other regular rooms. Choose the historical room. It's not really a place for "a room with a view" but if you step out your door you'll find plenty to look at.

The food is great. The buffet is every night, with breakfast buffet, too. Ordering of the menu is always great. During the winter you can get a special for two for either $20 or $30. Great buy. Glass of wine, salad with your dinner, veggies, entre, and dessert. The staff is busy but always friendly.

Don't forget to wander into the hall to see the most amazing collection of sheep mounts. I'm not into dead animals, but these were beautiful.

On the summer, there is a gunfighter show. The storyline is pretty lame, but there's a good gun safety message, and you can rub shoulders and get fun photos with the actors. Free. Don't bother to buy a chair ($2). It's a fun thing to take part in.

Take a stop in the Silver Saddle Bar and have the most generous and reasonable cocktail in town. The beer is all bottled, but right out of an ice bin. Take a tour around the building and see Buffalo Bill's former office (now the ladies room), the famous Cherrywood Bar, given to him by Queen Victoria, and don't forget to listen at night for the cowboy ghosts.

The Irma Hotel hosts people from all around the world. This is one place worth visiting, if not staying. The 4th of July Celebration is the best in the West and you'll probably see a few celebrities during your visit.

Locals are very friendly with real cowboys, bikers, hardworking people, and great friends, and there is good music (mostly) on the deck and in the bar. Have fun!

When I made the reservation, well in advance of trip, I was told no problem with getting a room with a view. Imagine our surprise when the view was of ac units and another section of hotel. Man at desk was upset, tried to fix it but no better room available for our stay. Won't stay here again. We traveled thousands of miles--and were stuck due to someone's inattention.

At first they gave us a room with no window, but when I asked to move, they had no problem. The new room was nicely decorated, old fashioned (but new) bathroom fixtures etc. Very comfortable. The hotel is thriving nicely but is very touristy, but you know that going in. The attached restaurant is reasonably price and good portions. No complaints about anything at this hotel!

Room Tip: Be aware, some rooms do not have windows. The one we were given (before moving) had a large picture...

It doesn't get more authentic than the Irma! Everything about Cody is gorgeous, including the Irma. The rooms are older and pretty cool, and the food is so yummy! The staff is great, staying here is a Wyoming must!
