This place is so very sweet. Liz and her family care deeply about this spot and it is evident they care about their guests. From the free nightly s’mores to the detailed town info binder, the Black Bear Inn will help you feel right at home in the cute cowboy town of Dubois, WY. The rooms are maybe a lil dated, but they are spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and unique! This is a refreshing take on my previous experiences in “motels,” truly felt like a welcoming community space with charming touches. The river spot next to the fire pit was a highlight too! Electric car charging on site!

Just back from 4 days in Dubois fly fishing with friends. Stayed at Black Bear Inn. Have stayed at motels in small town fishing and hunting all over America. Black Bear is one of best ever.

Liz keeps the place spotless. She puts many thoughtful little touches everywhere around the place and knows her guests. Extra floor mats for the fly fisherman. A clothesline outside to hang waders. A fire pit in a covered gazebo hard by the Wind River is a great way to unwind with a beer with friends after fishing. Families enjoy smores every night under the gazebo by the river over a fire. The setting is bucolic and sublime.

Very comfortable beds, great hot water and water pressure. Kept spotless.

All the guest we met were great people. The hotel has a real family atmosphere.

Can't wait to go back next summer. Thanks, Liz

If you'd like to stay in an "analog" motel that will take you back to your 60s childhood, this is the place! Actual metal keys for the doors, no cable TV, no matching decor, park outside your door, laundry lines across the way, 'smores in the fire pit by the river. We loved it, and the kind and helpful owner, but if you're used to Comfort Inns or similar, this is not for you!

was very pleased with the family atmosphere. felt like we were home spending time with neighbors. upon checking in they were having computer issues using the credit card machine and instead of making us stand around and wait gave us key to our room and said we could do paperwork later. room was very comfortable and location is within walking distance of places to eat. would recommend highly

Older motel with rooms with great beds and furniture. Owners were working on fixing up the exterior and interior of rooms. We had a minor issue with low water flow to faucet in bathroom and it was taken care of in a heartbeat.

The Black Bear Inn takes pets, is right by the river, a firepit by the river for congregating, walking distance to downtown, owned and managed by fabulous and very friendly people. Will definitely stay again.

Room tip: Any room seems to be a good choice
