Description: The idea for The Kitchen came from a vision of a restaurant that would provide something different - a refined, yet casual establishment that would provide modern cuisine with a comforting twist. The cuisine at The Kitchen embraces various culinary techniques and ingredients including all natural meats, seasonal vegetables, and sustainable, fresh fish. The presentation is clean, simple and natural. The beautiful and elegant architecture of the building mirrors the concepts in the food. Purchased in June 2005, the old A-frame structured house was renovated to create a space with award-winning design and remarkable ambiance. The modern yet comforting theme led to the bamboo bar and tables, the luminescent eco-panel wave of light, and natural color scheme. An open kitchen design allows for greater connection with guests and offers a personalized experience. Enjoy a large outdoor deck during the long summer nights or sit by the warm fireplace in winter.

First time visiting in Jackson. Our hotel recommended the Kitchen as a restaurant that could probably seat us soon and had good food as we were very hungry upon arrival in the town. We arrived with 6 minutes left for happy hour. Enjoyed our drinks and food sitting outside in really nice weather. I had the scallop dish which was small portion but spicy and delicious. Spouse had the cod and substituted veggies. He enjoyed the meal too. Only issue we had was our bill was incorrect as we were being charged for things we didn't order. So if you visit be sure to check your bill before paying.

We both had seafood and it was excellent. Some entrees might pack a little heat, but overall we were very pleased with our entrees. The service was excellent. We would have eaten on the porch, but there was so much smoke from the forest fires we chose to eat inside which was decorated very well.

The appetizers were the most poorly presented dishes I have ever seen, and not tasty at all. The Halibut was luke warm and chewy served with microwave rice and definitely frozen mango (soggy) Combined with equally luke warm service, just appalling and overpriced joint. Save yourself some money and go elsewhere. Pretty much anywhere I'd guess.

The Kitchen is a wonderful restaurant but even more wonderful between 5-6pm when they have $5 apps and $5 drinks! Stay for dinner, of course, but arrive for the deals (the Shrimp app especially). The chef does have a fondness for peppery spices in just about all dishes so if you are heat intolerant, go safe. One of our party had the vegetarian poblano dish and it was way too hot for her to get through. Your version of hot and the server's are probably different! I would also suggest to the management that service stay with less of a group focus (we must have had 5-6 people doing various roles with us and it gives one the impression that there isn't a coordinated approach when a dish doesn't work out like my friends didn't). However, I loved the Scallops! Cooked perfectly and the sauce was divine!
