We spent two nights at this Inn. The room is very basic, it has a refrigerator and a ceiling fan and a TV which we could not get to work. In the lounge there is a microwave but no cups, utensils, etc as well as bottled water.. At times there was a staff member present but most of the time there is nobody at the front desk.. It is located very close by to the town where you have tourist shops and only a few restaurants (you must check what their hours are): Bamboo Restaurant, Kohala Coffee Mill, a Mexican restaurant, and an organic market that offers food. In Kapa'a there is a Chinese restaurant, Rainbow Restaurant. Across the street from the Inn there is a large supermarket. Take a short drive to Pololu Lookout. On the way there, on the left side there is a food truck called Fresh off the Grid that offers all kinds of food, worth a stop.
I do not think there are any other hotels in this town.

We have stayed here many times over the past 10 years. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We enjoy bringing our breakfasts to the courtyard and relaxing into the morning in the comfortable chairs of the open parlor. As an older hotel sometimes noise travels too easily. The staff are kind and sweet. The location is just right for us: downtown, not far from Pololu Valley, beaches, and whale watching. It's a lovely place to slow down and to assimilate the spirit of Hawaii.

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs. The place is not taken care of. My company personal thought it would be cool but because it's the only thing for miles to stay, it worse than any hostel. No clean anything. Rude Employees. Outrageous prices. They've seen cleaner condemned buildings. What a joke. Never stay here. Drive to the south along the coast. Much better bang for the buck.

Room tip: In the middle of nowhere make day trip only! Then drive south to stay overnight don't stay! Whole area very expensive!

Staff were very hospitable, flexible and always were willing to meet our needs. I cannot thank enough for their attentiveness and care. When there was some toilet issue, they called the plumber right away. I also liked the fact that the location is walking distance to a grocery shop and organic coffee shop. Feels safe and there is a playground for kids and a big grass field where they can run around.

Liked · It was a cozy yet not extravagant place to stay - windows on both sides of the room (plus a ceiling fan) allowed for a cross breeze at all times if you desired. Ah yea, and a friendly little critter visited my room by obtaining entrance via the ample crack / space under my door!

Disliked · The fan had two speeds: fast and off! Cobwebs in the corners of the bathroom, grime on the bathroom door (inside by the door knob - expected, but would be nice if cleaned after every visit!). **No Street Number to find it!!** I’m from waaaay out-of-state, and was looking for 55-514 Hawi Road as well as the name (Kohala Village Inn) when I drove in... never saw either because they don’t exist on the property. Recommend this be done do it agrees with what one finds on the website.
