I initially booked this property just less than a year before my arrival date (August 2021). I was excited to stay here and had read good things on Trip Advisor at the time I booked. However, less than one week before I was to arrive in Hawaii, the hotel canceled my reservation. I was now just a few days away from my trip and had no place left to stay. After numerous emails and phone calls no one at the hotel nor at Hilton wanted to help me with the situation. They simply told me I was out of luck and would have to go elsewhere. I am a Marriott Bonvoy member with status and I decided to try Hilton on this stay and I got a horrible experience. Luckily I was able to find something on such last minute notice but the prices were 2-4x higher than when I had originally booked my trip. No one at Hilton was apologetic and in fact one of the customer service "specialists" I spoke to, not only yelled at me, but also spoke over me. I was hoping my trip didn't get cancelled and I was hoping to have a good time, but seriously do not rely on this hotel to make your dream vacation come true. No matter how far in advance you book they will cancel on you and leave you without any compensation or proper notice to find another place to stay. Do yourself a favor and book anything else. If you don't heed my warning at least book a back up reservation elsewhere that is cancellable so you don't find yourself in the same position I was in.
