As a friend and I explored Hawaii for the first time, we spent two nights here at the Hilo Hawaiian. The room was very nice. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was pretty good. The room was clean, although the air conditioning unit did leak some water onto the floor nearest the balcony. The employees we encountered were very nice and helpful when we needed something. Overall, a very good stay. Guests can see very beautiful views from most windows.

I am glad that your visit with us was for the most part good. We have addressed the other concerns that you bring to our attention. We are very proud of the Ocean front views for the majority of our guest rooms.

I hope that you get a chance to return soon and if you do please let me know so that I can personally assure that you do.

We stayed one night at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel while visiting the volcano. Betty from Reservations was very helpful and gave me a good local rate. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean with a nice bathroom and plenty of counter space.
We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurant ( WSW) and the food and service was excellent with beautiful views.
.
After checking out and back home I realized I had left my credit card after breakfast. I called the hotel and was able to contact my server, Chandler. He did confirm I had left my card. I also spoke with the F&B Manager, Mr. Gregory Arianoff, who immediately assured me that he had my card and would be mailing it.
Today I received my card in the mail. What excellent customer service and my grateful thanks to Mr. Arianoff for taking care of this and saving me a lot of trouble.
My thanks as well to Chandler who was very efficient and pleasant and went the extra mile with all our requests.

Will definitely stay at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel again on our next visit.

This hotel made me think of the 1960s -- it is pleasantly retro. I could imagine Don Draper arriving to pitch some new Hawaiian clients :). I enjoyed taking a walk through the Banyan trees in the morning. And the parking is free and easy. Here's one thing I recommend -- if you are coming in to Hilo on a Friday night as we did -- make a dinner reservation! We ended up with takeout and Safeway.

We stayed here while visiting the volcanoes. It was the perfect location and a beautiful view off the balcony. The hotel is right by coconut island and the gorgeous banyon trees. It was perfect for the price. Nothing fancy but fit our needs. We had a great breakfast downstairs at the steakhouse and they also had coffee to go In the am. The only thing I was disappointed in was the little market. We were craving something sweet at nite and the pickings were pretty slim and were unable to get dessert to go @ the steakhouse.

This was a comfortable hotel that was clean and convenient to everything! Really enjoyed that it was next door to Coconut Island. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We were told there would not be daily housekeeping due to Covid which was fine with us as we didn't want anyone except our family in and out of our room. We were given instructions and extra bags for used towels and for trash, and when we called, new towels were brought up quickly. Dining is limited on property but if you have a car, it was easy to drive to restaurants or grocery stores in the area. Beds were a bit soft as my husband had a sore back by the end of the stay. We asked for a late check out but was unable to get one due to a full hotel but the front desk was nice enough to extend our check out time another hour which was actually helpful. We also stowed our luggage as our flight was not until late in the evening. Really great staff throughout the property including the restaurant which we had breakfast the first morning there.
