Really comfortable hotel with friendly service, great setting on Hilo Bay and next to Liliuokalani Gardens and Coconut Island. Spacious room was super clean and comfortable. Spacious lanai overlooking the bay and with a spectacular view of Mauna Kea. Great value too. This will be our go-to for future visits to Hilo. We had a nice dinner at the steakhouse too!More

Enjoyed our stay very much, wish there was food available after breakfast and before dinner... this could have improved our experience. Services were good considering this is during the Covid era. We choose to stay on the bay view side for a little extra and were very happy we did, the other side was the parking lot and the distraction of all the vehicles coming and going, the bay side had beautiful views of the sunrise and sunsets from the balcony of the upper floors. Parking was plentiful, ice cream parlor was close by and had excellent quality ice cream, coconut island was close and easy to walk over too. Downtown was very close and easy to get to, many good places to dine, we really enjoyed Ponds and Pineapples restaurants. The onsite WSW steak house was very good, but be prepared to spend large amounts for food at all eating establishments. The rainy season can keep you indoors longer that you would like so play your stay during the dry season if possible

The resort has a good location with a panoramic views of Hilo bay and Mauna Kea. But now it needs some major renovation. The hardware needs to be fixed in the bathrooms, carpet is old and the bedding is thin and yellow. The resort fee includes a wifi that is not working and you have to pay extra for a faster one. Oh and there was a cockroach in the bedroom upon our arrival.
On a good note the staff is friendly and quite helpful.

We only stayed one night. This place was in a great location. The banyan trees out front were amazing. At night it sounds like a jungle. The hotel had some limited services due to covid. The bar was quite lovely at night. We enjoyed that.
We also ate breakfast in the morning at the steakhouse, which was very good.
We were not able to use the pool because it rained every day we were here.
Not far from town and you really could walk if you had the urge to do that.
There is a great little store out front of the hotel that has alot of goodies too.
My only complaint about this hotel is that there is a dilapidated building right next door. It really is an eyesore and if you get really close to it, it smells like something has died inside. It really is a bad reflection on this beautiful hotel.
And that was my only complaint.
The parking was great, plenty of parking!
I would stay here again.
We are working with to improve the neighborhood where we can. I am hoping that development can take place to improve the area. Banyan Drive is such a wonderful place and with a little work can become a gem once again in Hilo.

Amazing experience at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel as always. The Front Desk staff always greets us with their amazing smiles and warmth. Breakfast at the WSW Steakhouse was delicious. Haven't tried their dinner yet but will soon. Definitely coming back!

We love staying here because of the location in Hilo. So close to everything. Wake up in the morning and take a walk thru the park and down to coconut island. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Only minutes from the airport.
