We stayed here twice on our visit to the big island, about ten days apart on our arrival and departure . The property is in a beautiful setting right on the water and next to an expansive, very pretty park. The hotel has a large and inviting lobby and an onsite restaurant that we enjoyed. The main downside of our stays was the check-in process. Both times the front desk staff was less than pleasant, acting like we were interrupting their personal time by trying to register for our room. Neither time were we given the room type that we had reserved nor were we offered any options. It was "take it or leave it" with no concern as to what our reservation was for. The first room had no sitting chair, just a small desk chair and though we had reserved rooms with king beds we were only offered rooms with two queens. We were also not given a room with an ocean view on our first night even though we had paid extra for it. The other members of the staff that we had contact with were very nice and helpful, especially in the restaurant. Also, the rooms did seem to be very clean. This hotel might be an option if you need a place to stay one night before you catch your plane off of the island, otherwise I would shop around.

We spent 3 nights at Hilo Hawaiian hotel and love it. It was our second stay at this property and I am glad we chose this hotel again. Geri at the reception desk was very courteous and welcoming. Everyone at the hotel that we interacted with was friendly. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The view from the room was just simply breathtaking. The hotel is ideally located close to airport, shopping, dinning and parks. We couldn’t have asked for more. I’d highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return here on on future trips to Hilo.
