The Waipouli Beach Resort will get my business again. The only slight negatives were the elevators (very slow and hot) and the concierge was a little pushy. I know thats her job, but guests should be asked what plans they have made before they are bombarded with suggestions.
The room was fantastic, clean and fully equipped. The grounds, and beach access were beautiful.

Room Tip: We had a room that faced the parking lot and street area, but we did not have alot of street noise.

Spent three nights in a two bedroom unit. Pool was awesome and the fittings in the room were of excellent quality. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Was worth the extra cost to stay here.

Our family of 5- 2 adults and 3 boys ages 9, 6 and 4-just returned from a 6 night stay at the Waipouli Beach Resort and we had a great time as this is a very good resort for family stays on Kauai. We rented a oceanfront ground floor unit from a local property management company and were very pleased with the unit. The condo had 2 bedrooms, a living area, full kitchen and three bathrooms. Each room had great views of the ocean and we were able to walk out onto the grass right from each room as well. The unit was air conditioned, was very nicely furnished in a Tommy Bahama style with high-end kitchen appliances and a full-size washer and dryer. The kitchen was very well equipped as well. Since we did not book through Outrigger, we did not have maid service during our stay but this was not an issue. The whole resort is on a keyless entry system whereby you use keypads to enter a code to enter the unit and the pool area. The system worked flawlessly and it was very convenient not having to wrorry about keys. While the unit does not have a BBQ, there were several available in the common areas and we never had difficulty getting one. The pool is clearly the star here as there are two water slides, three hottubs and a meandering river-like pool. While certainly smaller and far less chaotic than the Grand Wailea's slides, the kids loved them and had a blast. Despite some of the other reviews we read, the staff at the pool were very friendly and helpful. As others have mentioned, the beach is not really a swimming beach but we were certainly able to hang out on the beach and the kids could play in the sand and jump in the waves if they wanted. The waves were a little rought at times so it was necessary to stay extra-vigilent but it was not a big deal. Even though we did not book with Outrigger, the staff were very helpful and we were afforded full acecss to the new workout room and the business office. My wife got a massage at the spa and was very pleased her treatment and the spa. The resort is located right on the main highway through Kappa which has its pluses and minues. On the plus side, it is easy to get to both Poipu and Princeville since you are about half-way between the two and there are a number of services nearby with Safeway, Longs and Starbucks right across the street. The downside is that when you drive into the resort you don't get a sense that you are in a tropical paradise as it feels relatively urban. With that said, once you park the car and are in the resort, you do not notice the urban nature of the place assuming you have an ocean view and/or oceanfront room. This is one resort where I would strongly reocmmend not booking a mountain or garden view as I think you would either looking out over a parking lot or a shopping center. Overall, we were very pleased with our decision to stay at the Waipouli Beach Resort as the condo was affordable--especially as compared to Wailea--with great facilities. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: I strongly recommend an oceanfront and/or oceanview room at this resort. Ground floor rooms open onto a nice grassy areas with the rooms in the G building and the odd numbers in the H building being the mosty private. There is a a fair amount of landscaping that blocks a full ocean view from the ground floor units unless you are standing so if you prefer a full ocean view them chose a higher floor. End units in the G building (101, 201, 301 and 401) have an odd configuration in that the bedrooms do not have a true ocean view and the lanai, while very large, is on the side of the unit and not the front of the unit so the view is mostly of a field and another condo complex.

I spent a lot of time searching resorts and found a "good" deal at this resort.
It's an all condo complex with clean, modern facilities. The resort is extremely well maintained and it didn't look to me like there was a "bad" room in the place. We had an "ocean view" room and it was all of that. It was wonderful to go to sleep to the sound of waves crashing on the nearby beach.
The Waipouli Beach Resort is in a great location between the North and West shores with good dining, hiking, exploring, beaches and shopping all near by.
I'd certainly stay here again should we be fortunate enough to return.

Room Tip: the "ocean view" or "courtyard" view rooms are best but there really isn't a bad room there. Depends on what your budget can afford.

You will not be disappointed staying at the Waipouli Beach Resort. We had a one-bedroom unit on the ground floor with a private little grassy area. The unit had high end amenities and was well cared for. You can walk to Safeway and Starbucks and many great restaurants but the best restaurant was the Oasis on the Beach right at the resort. It's not a kids restaurant but all food is served tapas style and 99% is local food. Happy hour every day and music on Wednesdays.
We didn't have kids with us but the pool and the beach will keep kids happy. It's not a swimming beach but there's plenty of sand to play on and to sit by to read a book. Our one bedroom unit (G107) was rented from the owner and the cost would have been the same for a hotel room but without all of the space and amenities. The concierges were knowledgeable and very eager to help.
The location of Kapaa was great because you could get to the north and south shore easily and the airport is only 15-20 minutes away. The town is much more laid back than Poipu and there is plenty "island" shopping.
I definitely recommend this resort to anyone visiting Kauai.

Room Tip: If you are going to be gone all day, don't worry about the cost of an oceanview. The ocean is just steps away for sunrise viewing and to enjoy in the evening. If you don't want to cook breakfast, walk to Bobby V's (one block to south) for their $7.99 all you can eat breakfast.
