We spent a lot of time searching on the internet before booking, and ended up changing to Waipouli Beach Resort at the last minute. So glad we did! There were four of us, 2 couples, and the arrangement was perfect. Kitchen and beautiful and well appointed. The living room felt so cozy and both bedrooms were large with separate bathrooms. The location is excellent, and you can easily drive north or south to check out other parts of the island. There's a Safeway right across the street, but don't let that discourage you, once you get in the resort you feel pretty secluded. Make sure you get an ocean front view, worth spending the extra dollars. Beach is not swimming friendly, but you can get in the water and there are swimming beaches close by. My one complaint would be the little things that could put this resort over the top. They don't furnish very much soap, and the towels are pretty beat up. The pillows weren't great, and spending a few more dollars on these 'luxury' amenities, would put this over the top. The rooms were very clean, quiet, and each bedroom had it's own lanai. We didn't use the spa, and only ate at the Oasis, the resort restaurant, once. They have a great happy hour from 4-6 every day, and their food was good.

I can't say enough wonderful things about the Outrigger Beach Resort & Spa in Kapaa. I checked into dozens of condo rentals and hotels all over Kauai and read tons of reviews on this site and others. We settled on this one knowing that with a 7 year old and 2 year old there would be tons to do and the pool looked great for kids. Before we arrived I was in touch with Vicki in reservations and she accomodated our every requests perfectly. We asked for upgraded room information, good luaus to book, for a crib for our room...and she effortlessly took care of everything. My parents booked a hotel room at the site and arrived before us because our flight was delayed for over 5 hours! I reached out to Vicki and she allowed my parents to pre-checkin to our 2 bedroom condo and she even had a lovely gift waiting for us. Which was a delight after trying to entertain two little kids in an airport for 7 hours and on a plane for 6!

The pool and hot tubs are perfect for families. Our little one could play in the baby beach area while our older one went down the waterslides literally HUNDREDS of times. Our condo was gorgeous - so new and pristine. The kitchen feels brand new and our view (of the pool and ocean) was absolutely gorgeous. We spent lots of time with the doors wide open enjoying the hawaiin breezes and the views. The bathrooms are huge and very well appointed. Truly, the "new" feeling of the resort is one of the things that made it feel so special and high-end.

The spa is lovely...I booked a massage last minute one day and my technician was fantastic. The concierge, Kanani, helped us with restaurant and luau reservations, booked a tubing trip for our oldest son and my husband, and golf for my husband at a discounted rate at Kauai Lagoons. We hit happy hour at the Oasis a few times and got wonderful local breakfast suggestions from our server there who remembered us days later and asked how we enjoyed her suggestions! Truly the level of service was phenomenal. All the staff were warm and friendly to our little 2 year old as we roamed the halls - they treated him like a little Outrigger King :)

We will definitely return to this resort on our next Kauai trip and highly recommend it! The only drawback for us was the rainy weather on the first few days of the trip but by the end we had sun-shiny skies and were broken-hearted to leave. Book your trip here!

Room Tip: Get an ocean view or partial ocean view if you can - it's worth it!!

Traveling with 2 families with kids, this place was perfect. Kids in one room (with the door closed) and my wife and I in another with the living room in between was very nice. The kitchen will blow your mind. And the bathrooms will too. The pool was very cool. Slides, waterfalls you can go under, and multiple hot tubs with sandy bottoms. And a bunch of different areas to layout. FUN and RELAXING.

Location: The beach isn't for swimming. I went out snorkeling a few times and saw some turtles and some fish, but the rock formations right on shore make it not a good swimming beach. But there is a great boogie boarding beach 3 miles north. And a nice swimming beach 3 miles south. The best snorkeling is at poipu in the winter and up north in the summer. Shopping for food across the street, great restaurants near by (my favorite was Bubas burgers and Olmypic cafe), and tourist shopping just down the way. Also Kapaa is near the river for kayaking (a must do), hiking (the ridge trail), and waterfalls. There is also a very nice walking and running path that starts about 3 blocks north and goes for 4 miles.

We had a really great trip to Kauai and highly recommend the Waipouli Beach Resort. I looked at some of the other resorts and decided that the location makes this one the best.

The Waipouli Beach Resort in Kapaa had everything a person could ask for in a beach front property on Kauai, except good service. We arrived at 3pm to the hotel and were told our condo was not ready, after being on a plane for over 5 hours this is not what you want to hear. We made ourselves comfortable at the beach front restaurant Oasis. The food was amazing and the mai tais even better. After an hour of not receiving a call from the front desk that our room was ready we went to the desk to inquire about it. We learned housekeeping still had not arrived to the room and that we still had to wait. We waited another half hour before approaching the desk again. Finally after waiting a total of an hour and 45 minutes we heard that housekeeping was working on our room and we were relieved. Upon entering the condo we noticed the beautiful state of the art kitchen appliances and the gorgeous view, however further inspection showed that housekeeping rushed on their job of cleaning up. Surfaces were not properly wiped down and the showers were a mess. We quickly looked past this and were just glad to be in a room and our vacation finally underway. On the first full day of our stay a person of our group got the flu, it was strange because nobody in our party had had it or had been exposed to it. After they got better another one of our group quickly succumbed to it. On the third day of our visit we were casually reading the guest book, that the owners of the condo keep, and we learned that the previous guests had had a case of the flu. Because the housekeeping neglected to do their job properly a large part of our group got the flu from the previous guests.
A total overall rating of this experience is "It could have been better". Beautiful island with beautiful beaches and sights. Definitely coming back here again, but staying someone a little better with service.

I know Kauai and there is really nowhere else to stay other than hotels that are mostly very nice, but extremely expensive. Having a nice 2 bedroom 2 bath condo for a family of 4 people is essential. Having the opportunity to cook some simple meals can be a huge savings for a long vacation. Top of the line appliances, 5 star furnishings, building and grounds. Located right on the beach and we were located in a direct oceanfront unit A-404, and the ocean sounds and breeze in this unit allowed us to sleep so well and to never have to run the a/c. Lots of windows for views and so very nice of a condo. Plus the complex is new and built in 2005. There is nothing built that new around the island as most places were built in the 1970's.

In case you are planning to come here, you really need to understand the layout of each unit and building. There are 8 buildings (A-G) and some have very little views, let alone ocean front. Building ''A'' is the best of the best. Building ''H'' would be next and ''G'' after that. Other than A, G and H, the remaining buildings are ''ocean view'' at best. Building ''A'' is direct oceanfront. Building G and H are great ocean views and one can easily hear the ocean from them as they are very close to the water.

Unit Numbering is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. All the EVEN numbered rooms face the water. The ODD numbers usually FACE THE PARKING LOT (EXCEPT IN BUILDING H ONLY). So believe me there is a huge difference in what you get with an Odd vs. Even numbered room. Even in Building ''A'' which is the best building, most of the odd numbers mostly face the parking lot. Building "H" is sitting sideways, so either odd or even numbers have great views.

Just have one small complaint. The entire complex is mostly used for vacation rentals and they only have shared internet using a company called Roomnet. The connection is atrocious. For $400 per night in a $1 million condo I would expect the owners to supply and pay for a $50 per month connection so the condo has some speed. But this entire complex is this way. So if you need to do any kind of business or essential interneting, you won't get much done. When I say SLOW, I mean "SLOW" as molasses and a lot of the time it just turns off and you can't connect at all. Really not that important if you do not plan to use internet, but a shock for the ones that do.
Otherwise a 5 star building and vacation on every level. I would recommend this place to anyone.
