I had read some reviews and articles that mentioned this was a good breakfast place. I was not disappointed. Once inside it is actually quite large. We ordered the banana macadamia pancakes. They are quite good and filling. Service was great too. Only issue here is that parking can be very difficult. Great breakfast and lunch menu.

Our parents treated us to this little gem. They have celebrated their 100th year in business. I ordered the pancakes with bananas, pineapple and macadamia nuts. My hubby orders the Spanish omelet with hashbrowns. The service was quick, the food was delicious and filling. They serve some pretty interesting dishes for breakfast including Ox Tail soup, rice, etc. It was super fun to see all the locals eating here.

I enjoy places that are where the locals go if they have reliably good relatively inexpensive food. Tip Top is that. Their corn beef potato patties and macadamia breakfast pancakes are delicious. For lunch, the ox tail soup is the best on Kauai and the sushi combo plate is very good. I make it a point to go to Tip Top Restaurant every time I visit Kauai - for the last three decades.

This place looks kind of sketchy, but don’t be put off. We were hesitant when we first came here but it recommended in our guidebook, and despite its rough appearance, it was busy and filled with locals which was a good sign. We tried this place in 2005 on our honeymoon and still reminisce about the pancakes! We returned 13 years later, now with two kids, and the place hadn’t changed a bit - best of all, the pancakes were still delicious! We always order them with banana and pineapple. They are fluffy but somehow the edges are a bit crispy. We have gone twice on this trip because we love them so much!

We got an order of two pancakes and also the grand slam breakfast which comes with two pancakes, eggs, bacon and hash brown to split between all of us. The eggs aren’t anything to write home about but the kids liked them. Bacon is hard to mess up and the hash brown is interesting...greasy, crunchy outside and soft inside. Not my favourite but again, the kids liked it.

Service is slightly gruff but fast and efficient. Tip Top will always hold a special place in our hearts!

The cafe is part of a small motel, so we expected to see lots of tourists for breakfast.

Not so, it was mostly locals - and mostly families.

The breakfast bento has a lot of meat - steak, corn beef hash, sausage etc... but was really nothing to rave about. Mac nut pancakes were better, coconut syrup was watery (and had to convince waitress that we really wanted it).
