Koa Kea is a small 3 story boutique hotel that offers superb service, a fantastic restaurant, 24 hr room service and sits right on the beach so you can wake up in the morning to the sound of surf and watch the surfers as they ride the waves all from your room. We had a suite on the 3rd floor and found it to be clean and the best air conditioning we've ever had in a hotel. When ordering room service, they were prompt and again courteous, delivering within 20 minutes usually.

The on property restaurant, Red Salt Grill, was perfect! The food was reasonably priced and great tasting. Our appetizer was the Seared Hokkaido Scallops which were cooked to perfection. I had the Roasted Beet Salad and Braised Beef Short Rib Osso Buco Style for my main course. My husband had the Caesar Salad and Pan Seared Snapper. Our only regret about dinner was we didn't take any pictures. Mine was so good I had it the following night when we ordered room service to eat on the balcony.

The only downside, if you could call it that, was the bathroom lighting and shower heads. The lighting was not sufficient and the shower had a rain shower overhead and another shower head that was not removable and didn't seem to put enough water to rinse quickly.

If you're looking for a great, relaxing hotel on Kauai I would check out the Koa Kea.

Bravo and Mahalo to Jack Slim (GM) and his team. My wife and I just completed a 5 night stay that was just awesome. We come to Kauai often and usually stay at our timeshare property. We just love Kauai, so for a milestone anniversary celebration I wanted to do something different and special... mission accomplished!

This boutique hotel is conveniently located near several shops and restaurants and set on world renowned, Poipu Beach. The property is really geared for adults. Guests comprised many honeymooners and wedding anniversary celebrants. I would not recommend this for families with young children (see the Grand Hyatt Kauai)...

The staff here exudes the Aloha Spirit. It wouldn’t be fair to single out any of these fine people. They were all terrific. From the valets, to front desk staff, to the bartenders, to the servers, to the housekeeping crew, to the pool attendants, to the maintenance people... everyone provided service with a smile and aimed to please. The pride in their amazing island as well as in their place of work was quite evident. This shows in the glaring attention to detail throughout.

We had a 2nd floor oceanfront suite ( 15 yds+ from high tide water) that was just terrific. Upon arrival to our room, we found a bottle of champagne with anniversary wishes from the GM. The room was spacious, spotless, modern, comfortable, quiet and beautiful with no sign of wear. Our suite had a large shower and separate tub. A mini-fridge was available. A TV (satellite broadcast) was mounted in each room including the bathroom. WiFi was available throughout the property (inside and out). Fine soaps and bath products are provided as well complimentary Koa Kea flip-flops. Bottled water and chocolates are offered with nightly turndown service. A word of caution for some, our mattress was on soft side...

The grounds are perfectly manicured with busy bees constantly, cutting, trimming, washing, buffing and whatever else it takes to maintain the immaculate grounds. The quiet and peaceful pool area provides an adequate number of lounge chairs for guests. Umbrellas are scattered and on occasion they may be short one or two. There is a large hot tub adjacent to the pool. Food and drink service is offered at guest’s lounge chairs and at the pool bar/tiki-hut. The poolside food is excellent and they pour a great drink...

In addition to the poolside fare, Koa Kea’s (Hawaiian fine dining) Red Salt restaurant is our favorite on the island. This includes the dining room as well as the fabulous Sushi Bar. They were both as excellent as ever. Please see my previous reviews for Red Salt...

All in all, we haven’t had a finer experience at any other hotel... we cannot wait to return.

We had a medical emergency in the family and the reservation manager CheriLynn (not sure of spelling) went above and beyond in accomodating our change of plans. Not sure every reservation manager would have done the same. Very grateful.

One our favorite hotel stays in the past several years. Location-wise, it sits among the big boys, but is secluded and offers very personal service. A real gem, frankly. The staff is outstanding: friendly, efficient and reflects a sincere ALOHA spirit. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable. The main restaurant and spa were great, although on the higher end, price-wise. The spa is on the smaller side. We loved the on-site rentals for beach-going needs and the pool-side bar/restaurant was terrific. We liked it so much, we're going back again in a few months!

Capacity of breakfast restaurant , seats around the pool with shadow are not adjusted to the number of visitors. We had a terrible expirience when waiting for a table at breakfast. The waitress did not respect the waiting line and seated people that came after us. , When prompting her to correct her mistake, she covered up her fault by stating to her management that i touched her...quite difficult with a big John and table in between. My god , are they making from this a Me Too story??? What would my fiancée think of me...?Management has weak knowledge of hospitality and threathened with a case....Though it would have been more honest to state a sorry for their mistake and offered another table. We are now declared persona non grata at breakfast. A big drop in customer service when you come just from the Royal Hawaiian in Honolulu.

The most friendly people are these from the valet parking and the lady who can order trips

Conclusion : no value ( hospitality or customer service).

Voor de Belgen, kijk goed rond er zijn hier veel betere alternatieven en even duur.
