This property has top notch accommodation ( lovely to sleep with the waves lapping beside your bed) well supplied unit, great beach( especially for the kids - shallow and not to rough) good pool. Staff was extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Everything was excellent. The only suggestion I would have is that when you pay top dollar for accommodation laundry should be included

There is not a better spot to be in on Maui, and not a better condo for two than Mana Kai Maui #501A. This carefully engineered and fully equipped little condo is perfectly situated directly on the ocean. Thundering surf lulls you to sleep. And your days are filled with gentle beach and surf-side walks both north and south. If the winds cooperate, there is great snorkeling right outside your door. The Mana Kai Resort can provide for every type of water sport you can imagine. And whales. Just step onto your lanai and look for them and there they are! Spouting, slapping, breaching for your entertainment. Owner Liz O'Scanlon, the staff at AA Oceanfront and at Mana Kai are all wonderfully helpful. In Maui, Mana Kai 501 is the place to be!

Room Tip: Best to arrange through HomeAway. Top floors with lower room numbers are ideal.

Mahalo for your review of 501. The 01's are the closest to the ocean and the remodel in the unit a coupe of years ago is first class.

I recently stayed in unit 202; I have stayed at Man Kai several times in the past, but this is the first in this unit. It turned out to be absolutely perfect.

The unit is located at the end of the building closest to the beach. In fact, the beach is only about 70' from the lanai. This is good for several reasons: the units at the other end of the building are very close to the large public parking lot for Keawakapu beach, so there is a fair amount of noise there with car alarms, garbage trucks in early morning with backup alarms, roosters, etc. In addition, it is closer to a shaded area of the public access to the beach, where there are frequent birthday parties and other large groups. One day there was a group that included 3 guitars and a base player with an amplifier. The units in the middle have a fair amount of pool noise. All of this goes away for the units in the 1-2-3 stacks. All you have is the sound of the ocean. I don't think there are any units in all of the area that are closer to the ocean than this unit.

The condo itself was very clean and comfortable. It has been upgraded with soffits, fans, lighting, comfortable furniture, carpeting, A/C, etc. With this location we had a view directly down the beach, as well as of the ocean, different from the other end. There is great whale viewing right from the lanai. In addition, at this end the back bedroom has a good view of the ocean also; the units at the other end have a parking lot view. Also, because this unit is at the end of the building, there is almost zero foot traffic walking past the unit, making it quieter than others. We had friends who came with us who stayed on floor 5 and they said that despite the higher unit, their view was a little obscured by the tops of the palm trees and thought ours was better, in that it looked through the lower part of the trees and more beach could be seen. This unit can be rented as a 2 bedroom, or you can rent just the front or back, as they have separate keyed doors. The 2nd bedroom has a small fridge, TV, and microwave.

As far as Mana Kai goes, it is unique in that it has some retail services on the bottom floor. The store, like an ABC store, is extremely handy for quick supplies, such as a paper. It carries a large selection of liquor and other beverages. There also is a store that rents out just about anything related to beach activities, such as kayaks, paddle boards, snorkel gear, and beach umbrellas. The concierge, tracy, at the activities center has been there for years and knows Maui extensively. she lined us up with a Willie K concert at Mulligans, which was outstanding. And of course there is the 5 Palms Restaurant on site that gets great reviews and has a wonderful happy hour from 3 to 7 (try the ribs and the roasted Brussels sprouts). It has one of the best views of the ocean in the Kihei area. Sarentos is also only several hundred feet away along the beach, which has a happy hour and great breakfasts, along with dinner. Of course, all of the restaurants of Wailea are only a few minutes away.

Another great thing about Mana Kai is that after a short walk on the beach you access the walking path that fronts all of the resorts in Wailea. The wife and I almost daily walked the whole length and back, about 5 miles. There is world class people watching there. There is also a trail that leads to the North from the parking lot and is about a 2 mile round trip.

The resort recently added a gym and a business center. The gym is smallish, but very well outfitted. There are very few other condo complexes in the Kihei area that offer this amenity. There is also a yoga studio at the ocean end of the building that a lot of people use.

I don't think you can make a better choice than unit 202 at Mana Kai. It might be slightly more expensive than units at the other end, but it is well worth it.

Room Tip: Unit 202 is upgraded with perfect location.

Do not stay in one of the hotel units. Room is clean and fairly comfortable but ..poor to no internet despite complaints to three different front desk staff. Staff doesn't seem to know or care. Room small and very dark even when drapes open Must keep blackout drapes closed if lights on because walkway is in front of window. No privacy. Coffee and towels not all replaced when room cleaned.

Room Tip: Don't stay in dark"B" hotel unit. Larger one bedroom units have view

Mahalo for your review. It is true wifi reception is spotty in the B or Hotel type room. Within the next 90 days the Board of Directors has authorized wifi modems in each room and DVR's. The cable company will order the equipment soon and we are told 6-8 weeks for the equipment to arrive. Our staff cannot do anything to improve the signal strength as it is an infrastructure issue that will be corrected when the property system is upgraded. I apologize for not replacing coffee and towels and will investigate your cleaner.
