My husband and I booked our trip to Maui 10 days before the trip on a last minute availability. We were a little concerned about some of the past reviews, but once we arrived and settled in we were very pleased with our find and plan to return, This is an older resort, but is very well maintained with friendly and helpful management and staff. The property is located across the street from a beautiful beach for swimming and snorkeling ( we saw turtles at both ends of the beach) and viewing the sunsets. We ate all our meals on our balcony patio watching the happenings on the beach and the street between the resort and the beach. The resort is close to grocery shopping, restaurants and the main highway that leads to other locals on the island. We snorkeled every morning and explored every afternoon. We will return to this resort, hopefully sooner than later !

We had a very late arrival but Patty who is office manager was extremely helpful and in constant touch with me the day of arrival to make sure we were still going to make it, the passcode to get in unit and to see if there was anything she could do to help with arrival. Location of resort and accessibility to food and activities was excellent. The employees that work around the unit were always courteous and polite and helpful in any way that we needed if we requested with assistance. Loved the resort, the island and would definitely consider going back

This was our 4th or 5th time staying at this resort on the Island of Maui. Our stay has never been less than FABULOUS. This resort is pretty much on Kamaole Beach. A beautiful beach on Maui. Stores and restaurants are walking distance. I love this resort and my wife and I will continue to return as much as possible.

Room tip: This resort is a condo. One, Two & Three bedroom units, with full kitchen. You'll feel like you're at home. It is gorgeous.

Kamaole Beach Royale is directly across from a beautiful beach, Kamaole Beach 1. The beach is sandy with lots of waves for boogie boarding and running in and out of. My daughter had a blast! My mother loved the beach for the sunshine and proximity. There are bathrooms and lifeguards on the beach. Turtles love to swim there and it was never crowded. Between the beach and the Kamaole Beach Royale is Pizza Hut, Shave Ice and Ice Cream, a couple of stores, a Taqueria, a fresh bread/cookie/muffin store, an internet cafe, 2 food trucks with great Coconut Shrimp, and ABC store and gas station. Just a few more steps away great shopping and more food. AND the cinnamon roll store! Yummy! Great beach, great shopping, great options for food. Ami Ami is less than a block away also.
The Kamaole Beach Royale is a tall building behind the Kamaole Beach Club. We were in #609. The view from the lanai is beautiful! Palm trees, sunsets, ocean wave, it's stunning. We had coffee and breakfast out there every morning. A very nice breeze comes through the entire condo if you just open the lanai up with the screen door and open the front door with the screen door as well. It really keeps it cool until the about 2:30 in the afternoon. Then the heat kicks in. There is an air conditioner for that time of day. The air conditioner is right beyond the couch so the cool air hits you on the couch. We would put a pillow up on the side of the couch to try to dissipate the cool breeze while sitting on the couch. Worked great.
On the lanai is 4 Tommy Bahama beach chairs for you to use at the beach. It's a bit of a walk hauling stuff, but the chairs can be carried like backpacks and that helps a lot. They each have drink holders and even coolers attached to the chairs. They are very nice, low sitting chairs. There is also an umbrella that twists into the sand for sun protection. It has a bag with a strap making it easier to carry also. My daughter used the boogie board provided all week. She loved riding the waves on it. I did see a small cooler in the closet as well, we just didn't need to use it.
The lanai has a round table and 4 chairs with pads on them and 2 plastic chairs. The safety bars across the top of the half wall of the lanai are a little high and just happen to cut right across your view, bar stools (which some condos have) would make it better, but it is not a big deal to us, we loved the view. Birds come and check on your lanai as well. They are happy to make sure you didn't leave crumbs behind. Keep your screen closed and they will stay out of the condo. They are kind of fun to watch. They will hop right up to the screen even if you are sitting right there watching tv.
The condo is great. The bedroom has one king size bed and more storage than you could ever use. 2 huge closets, a big 6 drawer dresser, 2 night stands with lamps and a ceiling fan. You will be lost on switches for a while in the condo, everything has a switch, but not necessarily where you think it will be. The bathroom has a ton of storage too. 2 medicine cabinets (one is full of extra towels) and 2 big drawers under the sink. The shower was a really nice size, plenty big. It's roomy enough for 2 people in the bathroom unless you want to sneak past each other, then it's a little tight. Person # 1 just needs to step out so person #2 can get by. There is a blow dryer and a hand held mirror in there.
There may be some toilet paper in the bathroom, but you will need to by more and it is up to you to supply it, garbage bags too if you run out of what is there.
There are mirrors everywhere. Not just in the bathroom, but in the hallways too. Floor to ceiling. The hallway is is full of storage as well, behind the mirrored doors. Beach towels are in there. Lots of sheets. We didn't dig into them too much, because we didn't really need anything. I did notice the cooler in there and I think a tool box. Didn't pay too much attention to what was in there. The other closet is the pantry. People leave things behind like salt and pepper, coffee, and canola oil. We left popcorn, bottled waters and jelly. There is some stuff in the fridge too like mayo. Give it a once over before you go shopping. There were some napkins, dish detergent, stuff like that.
The kitchen is fantastic. Well equipped with what you would need. Pots, pans, cutting boards, dishes, mixing bowls, spatulas, toaster, coffee maker, etc. AND THERE IS A WASHER AND DRYER! YEAH! The kitchen is open to the living area with a big cut out window which is super nice. Living room has a pull out couch which I slept on every night. I have to worlds worst neck and back and for some reason that hide a bed didn't bother me at all! Couldn't believe it, I don't think I took a pain pill all week. The pull out is just fine. There is a recliner chair in there and coffee table as well and then a glass table with several chairs, 4 I believe. The TV is huge and gets cable. People can also call you on the phone if you give them the number. We just used our cell phones. Also, there are several ceiling fans throughout the condo.
The best thing about the condo has got to be the key. They want you to leave the key in the door so that you don't lose it. This was awesome. We never had to bring a key to the beach. We just used the key in the door. It was always there, we were never locked out.
Rose and Vern are very nice. They will give you a Foodland coupon card to help with the groceries. If no one is coming into your room on the day you leave, they will let you stay later for a small fee so you have a place to rest or shower or keep your stuff until you have to head to the airport. Our flight was at 11:30pm and we were able to stay there until 9pm no problem.
There is an elevator!
There is a pool, we never even used it, because the beach is so awesome.
There is a rinse off station and you are asked to always rinse off before you head back into the condo. You are asked to take off your shoes at the door to the condo to keep the sand out of the condo and carpet. Be conscious of your water and electric use and keep the noise down.
If you are a noisy family or group of rowdy youngsters, this is probably not the place for you. My mother, daughter and I loved it. The neighbors are nice and polite and quiet. It's the birds that will wake you up, or the ocean, not the neighbors.
We did see some teeny tiny ants a couple of times, but didn't even need to spray. Just keep your food in the fridge or microwave and you'll be fine. It was no problem at all, better than I expected since it's Hawaii after all.
We LOVED the Kamaole Beach Royale and would stay there every time we came. Thank you Rose and Vern for your hospitality!
Michelle
Aloha!

Room tip: High floors equal good views, but if you are on a low floor, you can use the 7th floor lanai that has tables, chairs, and grills.

We stayed in a 5th floor unit with fantastic view of the beach and ocean at any time of day, sunrise, daytime whale/dolphin watching, and sunsets. It is across the street from a small strip shopping center with great eateries. It is within walking distance of more shopping, eateries and three beaches, two of which have snorkeling. All the beaches are connected, and have wonderful ocean view, soft sand, and great swimming in the waves.
The resort pool is solar heated, quiet, and private for very refreshing swim, or chilling pool side.

Seventh floor Community cooking area with many tables for rooftop dining, and spectacular unobstructed sunset views, or whale/dolphin watching. People we met have been coming here for annual vacation for up to 35 years.

Room tip: Great ocean and sunset views, across the street from 3 big beaches, centrally located for touring the island.
