What this place lacks in modern, it makes up for in charm and location. Unit 220 is a little dated. You'll hear that a lot. But, if you can look past the 80s decor, you will love this place. It's well stocked - tons of towels and sheets, beach chairs, a parisol, boogie boards, etc. The only thing not stocked well was the toilet paper and there was no tissue at all. We searched the place - no back up supplies.

The views from the lanai are simply amazing. I love watching sunsets from the beach, but at this place, you don't need to. Just grab your beverage of choice and sit sand-free.

Two disappointing things happened. Our airline changed our flight times, so we stayed an extra day. When this has happened before, other hosts reduced the rate for the last day, or didn't charge us at all. Maybe that's above and beyond, but paying full price for the extra few hours (we left at 4pm) was a bummer. Lastly, we left behind some clothes, and despite efforts and multiple messages to our host, we have not been extended the courtesy of a reply. That's kinda rude.

Unit 208 was awesome. Nice & clean & very modern. It has a great view from the balcony looking straight over the pool.
It was very quiet & the beds were comfortable.
It has a nice pool, hot tub &3 bbqs & the grounds were kept immaculate.
It’s a great location. Very central to most places. The beaches just across the street & west are amazing. We went to a different one each time. The ones closest to the condo were the calmest & if you enjoy snorkelling, they offered the best reefs on the sides of each beach. Each time we entered the ocean we saw at least one sea turtle & many beautiful fish.
The condo had washer & dryer which was very convenient.
We would definitely use this unit again.

This is the 3rd time our family has stayed at the Shores of Maui so it should indicate that we are very happy with this accommodation booked through VRBO. You should be able to find a direct booking doing a targeted search. This year we stayed in Unit 215 which is 10% larger than many of the other units and the extra room allows the owner to out an extra bed into the bedroom. This unit is over 700 ft.2 which is larger than most reasonably priced hotel rooms or suites. The location is also excellent as it is located across from Kalama Beach Park and makes for easy access to many beaches along S. Kihei Road. The search of the VRBO website gives one a range of prices and level of accommodation. We think $US 120 per night is as much as we prefer to pay so there are units in Shores of Maui which cater to the lower end cost structure. The condo is not new but very comfortable. Most units are one bedroom and one bath. As this is the fifth time to Maui and 6th time to Hawaii we prefer the middle Kihei area. It is a longer drive to Lahaina but we only went to the Lahaina once so this was not an issue for our family

Room Tip: It only has two levels and all condo units have an ocean view

We stayed at the Shores of Maui unit 206, great location, beautiful condo. Only thing missing was a cooler for the trip to Hana! Everything you needed was in the condo. We BBQ'd almost every night by the pool.

If you want a great snorkeling trip to Molikini, call Seafire directly and go with Captain Don a retired coast guard vet! The crew was wonderful and really knew the area and sea life. Swimming with so many turtles was amazing, just make sure you have your extra batteries with you!

This was my first time in Maui, having been to Oahu and the Big Island years ago. It was also my first time staying in a VRBO rental. The Shores of Maui is a well kept, older complex, with a lovely ocean view pool area directly across the road from a good beach area ideal for swimming, family beach time and surf lessons. Tennis court also on property was perfect for early morning matches.
We stayed in Unit 114, which has the largest covered lanai and more privacy than any other ground floor unit. Newly updated bathroom and large, open, newly renovated kitchen which is very well equipped. WiFi works well and the owners have even provided snorkelling and tennis equipment.
We enjoyed sunny morning coffee and breakfast while watching surfers from the lanai. We were also able to view beautiful and colourful sunsets from the lanai and pool areas. The complex was very quiet and we spent evenings outside listening to the waves break on the beach. Very convenient for evening walks on the beach and the pool and hot tub areas are open until 10 pm. The communal BBQ and eating area poolside permits for an opportunity to meet others in the complex.
Superbly located for easy beach access as well as having a short walking distance to bars and restaurants, snorkel, scuba and surfing equipment rentals and instruction. Nearby shopping for clothing, gifts and souvenirs as well as food and a good area for simply strolling around the neighbourhood could fill time not spent on the beach or in the pool. A short walk gets you to good restaurants, pubs and great souvenir shops.
We will definitely return to The Shores of Maui, in Kihei, on our next visit to the Island!
