Imagine sailing out to Molokini crater just after sunrise! This was our 5th trip on the Kai Kanani sunrise snorkel express, and it's a must-do every time we are in Wailea. The sunrise snorkel leaves early - 6:30 a.m., and because Kai Kanani gets out to Molokini earlier than any other boat, we have the whole place to ourselves. After a second snorkel stop to observe sea turtles, we are back in Makena by 8:30 am, so we now have the rest of the day to do more! Plus, since it leaves from Makena, you don't have to drive all the way to Lahaina if you are staying in Wailea or Kihei. Plenty of parking available for free, and they also do pickups at some of the local resorts. Onboard, Captain Dan gave a great talk - very funny and put everyone at ease. All snorkel equipment is included, and instruction is given for beginners. The crew was great. Even non-swimmers were made to feel comfortable. Two women in our group weren't swimmers and they were still able to snorkel with the aid of boogie boards and got to view turtles! Crew members were in the water with snorkelers, and helped point out different fish and sea life, and were on the lookout for turtles. They were great with answering questions of any type. Food was fresh and tasty, and gave you a good start on this early trip. Kai Kanani Sailing Charters also has a storefront in Wailea with great gear and can give you information there on their snorkel trips. Will definitely do this again next time we are in Maui.

Aloha Mollie,

We are always humbled and grateful when we see returning customers. Thank you for being part of the Kai Kanani 'Ohana!

The Sunrise trip has become our most reviewed trip because, as you know well, it is the most magical experience. Having Molokini to yourself is so special that we decided to make it even better.

So, starting December 1, we are extending the Sunrise trip by 45 more minutes to give us more time at Molokini, plus we're adding a hot breakfast, with delicious egg frittatas to go along with our parfaits, fresh fruit and fresh baked muffins. On top of that, and due to a lot of requests, we're serving mimosas and bloody mary's after snorkeling. It's what we're calling the "Sunrise Deluxe" and it is really special.

This morning, we went out on the new trip as a trial and the passengers were raving. It truly is the Golden Hour, as we watched the moon set into the ocean and the sun come up over Haleakala. What an incredible time.

Mahalo, Mollie. We look forward to seeing you again!

This company was recommended by our hotel and we had a great time. We did the two hour morning trip, more than enough time in the water. Safe professional staff

When my wife mentioned that we were spending $350 for a snorkeling cruise, I was thinking we over paid. I couldn't have been more wrong. The catamaran is very spacious especially since we only had 18 on board plus 5 crew. The morning cruise begins before daybreak and has a short 20 minute cruise to Molokini. When we arrived we were the only boat there. Since the surf and current were tame, the captain allowed a stop at a sight called Elevator. The fish life was average but the coral and the gradual slope to the deep water was amazing. The second stop was inside the crater with a care free snorkel and saw the normal Hawaiian fish, a moral eel, a some else on the boat saw a small white tip. Last stop was to turtle town. The vis was poor but we did see 3 turtles in about 20 feet of water. Once on board, out came the sandwiches, frittata, chips, bloody Mary's and Mimosas. With this trip, there are no crowds, attentive staff and a top notch boat. Highly recommend.

Aloha Todd!

Mahalo nui loa for the review. You came out on our Sunrise Deluxe, which will be a full time offering starting December 1. We're transforming our morning trip to a "deluxe" trip full time because of the overwhelming requests for more time at Molokini and for a full breakfast, with mimosas and bloody-mary's. We're happy to accommodate!

We're so glad you and your wife spent the morning with us and we hope you'll consider coming out again with us the next time you're on Maui. Mahalo!

All was great - the boat, the captain and crew, the snorkel sights, the scenery, the food and drink. I was most impressed with the crew's attentiveness to both safety and environmental concerns. Tips on reef safe sun screen and reasonable interaction with turtles will help lessen the damage we travelers can/do inflict on the ocean and its fragile creatures.

Aloha Pam!

Thank you for coming out with us and for the review! And most of all, mahalo nui loa for noticing our efforts regarding the environment we work and play in. You've probably noticed that on Maui, there are growing levels of awareness of the how fragile our ocean is and how much we utterly depend on her for not only our food but our entire livelihoods.
Having reef-safe sunscreen on the boat is just the start for us. We partner with and support the Hawaiian Wildlife Fund and the Maui Reef Fund. I encourage anyone who has the same concerns to donate to these organizations and they are on the front lines of helping to maintain this beautiful ecosystem for visitors like you to enjoy.

Mahalo, again, for your kind words and we hope to see you again the next time you visit Maui!

This was the second time we did the 4 hour Molokini tour and they are nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived we were given 5 star service. The boat is wonderful and it was windy enough that they were able to take the sail down. Every crew member clearly loves their job and it shows in the attention to detail. I will use them again next time we're in Maui.

Aloha Megan,

Mahalo for the review and we're so glad you had a great experience with us, twice! Return Passengers is the greatest compliment we can receive and we thank you. We strive for "5 star service" with every passenger we have, no matter what the sea conditions are.
