Went on a 45 minute flight ,from the moment we got there we were amazed by they way we were looked after,Bruce gave us a good history lesson on the ground of this particular aircraft, being inside a Naval airstation with military aircraft was quite interesting as well.We strapped on the chutes and headed off across the island, over numerous old and current airbases, while Bruce gave me a running commentary the whole time, gotta love the ol radial engine sounds as well.Once on the ground ,Bruce and his crew,i am presuming wife and other pilot, were in no hurry to get rid of us and we enjoyed talking with them for some time after, when it was time to go i asked Bruce about a collection of retired aircraft and military equipment over near the exit of the airfield,it seems they are being collected for a museum in the future, and he was more than happy to show us these before we left.I would highly recommend this flight to anyone, thanks Bruce and staff for a great day!!!

This was our October 2012, 'Staycation' adventure. We live on Oahu and we have flown in the Cessna seaplane at Keehi Lagoon, the glider at Dillingham field, and a helicopter on Kauai.

The restored 40's era SNJ trainer flight, for this pilot wannabe, (Microsoft Flight Simulator trained),was a way to experience the real sights, sounds, and smells of a bygone era of aviation. I really enjoyed my time on the controls as we flew along the Waiane coast.

I think my wife was a little skeptical, (she was on the first flight), when the instructions to buckle on the parachute and the bail out procedure started during the preflight. Just a precaution , mind you, Just like on the commercial airlines.

You will need to climb onto the wing, then a single step, then stand on the seat to get into the cockpit. Bring only a small camera. Any excess purses or camera bag will go into the cargo hatch and will not be accessible during the flight.

Pilot, Bruce Mayes projects the confidence of his years as a commercial airline and Army helicopter pilot. I never felt unsafe in this aircraft.

Both flghts were beautiful. Bruce tells you what is going on as the flght progresses and the control tower chatter is mixed in as well. Your intercom microphone is active

The 'tail dragger' SNJ 'weaves' down the taxiway because the engine blocks the forward view.
The preflight checks... magnetos, prop pitch, set the mixture,.... cleared to take off with a right turn.. close the canopy, the engine rpm rises and we roll toward Diamond Head.... 100mph the tail is 'light' , then the wings are 'light'.... we lift off the runway... wheels spindown, apply the brakes, gear up...... bank to the right and we are over the ocean... continue the turn and we are climbing ... reduce rpm.... flying northwest along the Waiane coast.... report we are at the Kahe power plant....take the controls at Makaha... fly to Kaena Point and turn 180 at Dillingham.... pilot takes the controls back at Kaena Point and does a 60degree 'pylon turn' around a small boat.... receive clearance to land.. traffic is a Coast Guard C130 on the taxiway....happy, happy...

Received a dvd of the entire flight. One camera points at the rear seat (you), and the other is off the right wing. Take off >>> landing.

Highly recommended, One passenter per flight
Thank you Bruce and Carlene
