It's all fun and busy and a little fishy smelling as it should be. Crabs and other seafood delights are available to purchase and take home or eat right there. Many restaurants to choose from for food and drinks while you watch the people or boats go by. I always have fun there. The Museum Mechanique is so much fun to check out but bring some quarters so you can watch the old fashioned machines work. Some are pretty dark but all interesting and reveal history of the times. Get a hot fudge Sunday down the street at Ghirardelli Square and smell the chocolate river. Shop the many stores and check out the attractions on the strip. I like to walk the waterfront to the Ferry Building. It's a bit of a walk but just beautiful and relaxing way to see the bay and get moving!

Inexpensive souvenirs in plenty of stores; street performers days or night; tons of restaurants to choose from. We ate at several places - sat outside on patios - must stop for a San Fran visitor. Beautiful water views.

Great place to find nice fish restaurants, but harder ti find things for vegetarians. Great time in the Giardelli chocolate shop. Huge bread shop in the middle with bread of all types shaped into animals. Had lunch at a lovely restaurant around the back of the chocolate shop on a side street - gluten free and vege stuff avaiable, very tasty. Overall a nice atmosphere - the smell of sea and fish in the air!

This is right next to pier 39, so you mah as well come here. A few cool attractions in surrounding shops and street. It is open air so dont do this in the rain. Worth a visit and walking distance to Ghirardelli Square. Nothing spectacular but okay day out with family or friends. Seen it once seen it all.
