My family gathered for a New Year's Day dinner and had just a lovely experience. The waitress was patient and helpful. Our reservation was at 4:15 so there was almost no crowd and things went very smoothly. An hour later it was pretty busy. For appetizers we ordered escargot, moules, French onion soup, lobster bisque, and a few salads. The moules were the most tender I have ever tasted! All the flavors were wonderful. For dinner, I had the steak frites which was perfectly cooked and a nice looking hanger steak with bernaise sauce, salad, and fries. Perfect. Also on the table was filet mignon, seabass, pasta with rabbit and a few others. Everyone was giving high praise towards their meals and the atmosphere and vibe. Our bill was $250 which for 5 people included wine for all, all of the appetizers, main entrees, and dessert (a flaming crepe dish that was to die for). Great value! If you're searching for a great French restaurant this one won't disappoint. We miss the exquisite Farmhouse cafe which was on Adams but closed. Blue Boheme is also nice and at times we visit Hexagone which we also enjoy. But I'd have to say that so far this is our favorite for an overall pleasurable dining experience. Enjoy!

my wife and i had dinner last evening after passing by one of our favorite restaurants and seeing the long line. we had just had dinner at a local french restaurant a couple of weeks ago and were underwhelmed with the entrees. au revoir was definitely not underwhelming. the moules in white wine and whole grain mustard sauce were spectacular and the rabbit was plentiful and quite tasty. the brioche we shared for dessert was delicious and rich. service was very attentive and extremely timely. we will be going back again sometime soon!

We missed La Vache, and we're please to find it has been replaced with an even finer French bistro. From the family of Arrivederci restaurants. Located in Hillcrest, a vibrant, artsy community in San Diego. Amazing lavender fries, moules, sea bass, salmon and saffron risotto. The fish was done perfectly, and oh the sauces! Stop by and say Bonjour to Au Revoir.

Went for dinner with a 7 pm Saturday evening reservation. Peak time, was busy but emptied out by the time we finished. Nice table layout, linen napkins. Good attentive service. Small reasonably priced wine list. Tried the French Onion Soup. Good size, a bit sweet (maybe from caramelizing the onions which could have been cooked a bit longer). Tasty cheese topping. Complimentary bread was nice, crusty, fresh. Mains were "Lapin a la Moutarde" (rabbit) with noodles and veggies. Nice flavors. Second was the daily "Venisson" special. Full flavor, tender meat cubes served over mashed potatoes in a rich sauce. Both dishes were large.
Good Hillcrest dining option.

Appetizer: bone marrow, which I have never seen in a restaurant menu before. The bone was split in two lengthwise and it tasted just like it should, if not even better, with crisp parsley. Duck breast, crust with honey, done just right, perfect vegetables, asparagus, snap beans, broccoli.
