Excellent location near sights and the Metro.
Clean, comfortable, interesting room. High ceilings. Handy kitchenette. Excellent email communication with staff ahead of the visit. Good information provided for visitors.
Windows on a busy street with NYC's perpetual honking.
The 1871 is called a New York B & B, but we're still not sure what that means. There's a bed, but no breakfast, and, nothing really communal about the experience. We met the folks who work there upon arrival, then never saw anyone else again.
When they say no refunds, they mean it. Our trip to the 1871 was delayed a day because the area's airports were closed. We were able to stay a day longer, but ended up paying for a night's stay when we weren't there.More
