Description: Opened in December of 2008, L'Artusi is the second step from the team that brought dell'anima to the West Village. Chef/Partner Gabriel Thompson and Beverage Director/Partner Joe Campanale share their expertise in Italian Epicurean Hospitality on a larger stage. Featuring rustic cuisine, a crudo bar, specialty cheese program, private dining room, and a walk-in wine cellar, L’Artusi offers guests a variety of dining options and a warm, friendly vibe. Our 110 seat restaurant, designed by Brooke Maples, features two floors of comfortable banquette seating, extended traditional bar, cheese bar and a chef's counter over-looking the open kitchen. Private dining opportunities are also available in our 2500 bottle walk-in wine cellar.

What a great neighborhood gem for some out of towners. We hate the tourist traps of midtown and love Greenwich Village for some outstanding food. Had no reservations and they sat us at the chef's table--dinner and a show! Started with the beet salad and little gem salad--both some of the best ever had. Came here specifically for the GF pasta, and it was outstanding. Had the GF pasta with bolognese and then the lamb ragu--again, perfecto! Great wine selection--picked out a Ligurian wine we'd never had. Even though we were at the chef's table, the service was thoughtful.

Only suggestion is to have a GF bread service option. Even if it is just a cracker or even some crudite, it is awkward for bread service for one to come out and offer nothing else.

A nice, modern Italian. The food was delicious - everything we ordered. An impressive wine list, somewhat overpriced (typical for the NYC I guess), and all Italian. An excellent, friendly service. Highly recommended!

Their home made spaghetti dish is among the best I've ever had. It's simple, and flavorful. The portions were appropriate, not overbearingly large. Only thing worth noting is that the restaurant does not let you pace your own order, they push you to order all apps and entrees at once. The food didn't come out too fast, but did come out faster than we would have liked on this particular night where we wanted a long drawn out dinner. Understand that they had other constraints so needed to do it this way, but it is very timed.

The wine list is nice and the pastas and all the plates are delicious BUT the staff is what puts L;Artusi over the top. Always nice, warm and welcoming.

L’Artusi is a very buzzy Italian restaurant that you need the skills of a ninja to get a table for each month. If you do, you’ll really enjoy it but expect to pay a proper price. There might be better value Italians in New York if I’m honest but you come here to enjoy good food in a place you’ve had to hustle to get a table.

PS I will say the mushrooms are divine. Order them!
