If you want a nice view of the Statue of liberty then one must take the ferry for a nice ride. It gives a nice view of the brooklyn bridge, manhattan skyscrapers and takes you to the statue of liberty in limited time.. It is the best option to see the status as opposed to going on the island as you then will need a whole day for the same... A must go...

We did our own "walking/subway tour" of the city one day. We started with the Staten Island Ferry and worked our way up to Broadway. This is a wonderful activity to feel like a New Yorker!

Maybe everyone else in the world knows (but I didn't) that taking the ferry from Battery Park to Staten Island (and back) is FREE! It runs every thirty minutes. We went around sunset, had a great view of Lady Liberty and saw the twinkling lights of lower Manhattan as we returned.

Restrooms in the terminal were clean. There was a souvenir stand on one side and food vendors on another. In addition to Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs, right next to it pizza by the slice was available. That was possibly THE BEST PIZZA I've ever had. The ride was smooth, very relaxing and provided great views of the city. And did I mention, this was FREE!

Very easy to take to the city. It is a bit crowded getting on and off, but was definitely manageable. We stood at the windows on the left on the way to Manhattan and enjoyed the view of the Statue of Liberty. The subway is right there when you get off.

We rode the FREE Staten Island Ferry to see views of the Statue of Liberty and it did not disappoint. It was a beautiful sunny day and the views were outstanding. I can't believe this ferry is free. We rode it over and back with no issues.
