We were visiting for the open mic comedy, as our friend was performing. This is held in two parts, downstairs in a small but cozy setting with a few tables and benches along the brick walls. About 20 would be funny peeps took the stage for 4 minutes each. Some funny, some painful, but all good.

They run two sets, one at 6:30 and another at 8:30.
Free entertainment is great. Just plan on sticking around for the whole set so as to not insult the performers.

You can order food & drink upstairs and bring down. Alert - wine bottles are 1/2 price until 7pm! A terrific beer selection also is available, with lots of authentic Polish and regional choices.

We decided to stick and have dinner after the show (reservations highly recommended, as only 30 or so seats) - and so glad we did!

Our party of six, each with a beer or glass of vino, rang up a tab of just $142. We gobbled up three different pierogis, steak quesadillas, Zapiekanka (crusty bread smothered in cheese, shrooms, onion and sausage), garlic fries, kielbasa, and a couple of avocado salads with sliced organic chicken. A Polish food fest at such a reasonable price!

Our server was attentive and personable, taking great care of our party despite his workload as the only server in the dining room

Would love to come back and try some of the authentic drinks and beers.

Nice relaxed place. Staff was nice, food was good and they had good European beers on tap. It had a real neighborhood feel where everybody knew everybody.

This is a great spot and everyone is welcome here. I was at Klimat three times this month to do comedy shows, and I ended up sticking around with friends to enjoy pirogies and delicious Zywiec beer from Poland. If you have a soft spot for things Eastern European, you'll enjoy Klimat.

The beer selection here is awesome and prices very reasonable. I live in Shanghai where everything is expensive, and here I was happy to throw down cash for great beers and food - reasonable. There was often just one waitress who was handling everyone perfectly, running around everywhere to make sure people were well taken care of. Earns her tips.

Aside from upstairs, as others have noted there is Laughing Buddha stand up comedy downstairs. Free for you to watch, but $5 to perform. It's good to sign up in advance to secure a spot for the shows - there are good comedians here and you'll enjoy yourself.

I have been to 60 countries and a lot of bars, and this is now a new home for me when I'm in NY.

It's out of the way and bohemian . The food is nothing to write home about -- Polish, Eastern European and assorted American dishes. We ordered pirogi and it was soggy and frankly pretty bland

But they have open mic downstairs most nights, and both the music (when it's live music) and the jokes (when it's stand up day for amateur comedians) are quite enjoyable . And the beer list is extensive and with quality brews
