Once upon a time, Manhattan's Upper Westside was one of the more affordable parts of the island. The apartments were large and not too expensive, and there were vegetarian restaurants and so forth, and a family could afford to live there.
Now, like pretty much all of the island, this neighborhood is expensive and the few families that remain from earlier decades are getting priced out of everything. This restaurant is a good example of the downside of recent developments. I like their food, but can only afford to eat there every so often (read, maybe once a year).
For the upscale folks who live in the hood now, I would bet this is a staple for them. Since as I said, the food is good. Just a little too pricey to be a regular stop for me.
