“Outstanding Hotel. I highly recommend staying here.”
Reviewed 26 March 2012

We stayed here for three nights. Rooms are very clean. Beds are very comfortable. Staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. Really nice lounge on the second floor with coffee, tea and expresso machine 24 hours per day, small muffins and pastry in the morning, crackers and cheese in the evening. This is a small hotel for NYC, so doesn't feel crowded at all. Good location -- close enough to attractions but relatively quiet area at night. A great place to stay.

Stayed for one night at the Hyatt 48 Lex in early March. We were pleased with our stay in a Corner Suite. That room was spacious for NY standards and very contemporary, which we like a lot. The floor to ceiling windows provide a great view of the Lexington Avenue. Ask for a high floor.

I liked the hotel very much, everybody we spoke to were very friendly and as mentioned, the standard of the rooms is very good in my opinion. There are a few minor drawbacks, though. Not anything that should prevent you from staying here, but small annoying disturbances in a few places. The wait for a lift could at times be quite long, as there are only two lifts for the 30-something floors I think. Furthermore, I am not sure I quite get it with Hyatt's new "host" system, where they do not as such have check-in counters, but rather "hosts", who will greet you and check you in on a laptop. The same people are also supposed to handle smaller requests (the concierge is not in the very small lobby, which is strange), assist with luggage and hail cabs. I think Hyatt went a little too contemporary here, as the hosts had no change of knowing of arriving guests struggling with luggage on the street before they actually enter the front door. Anyways, all of these issues are minor things, and I would still very much recommend this hotel, especially against the Grand Hyatt a few blocks away, which is more or less the same price, but not as good in my opinion.

This is my new favorite hotel in midtown. It is a new Hyatt property that provides more personal service in a smaller setting (160 rooms). We upgradef to a premium king on a high floor, and it was a fabulous room: spacious, quiet, everything worked perfectly. This hotel has the Lexicon Lounge on the 2nd floor that offers free coffee, latte, cappuncino, tea 24 hours a day, and snacks at certain hours. A nice touch indeed for NYC! You can also buy drinks here. Fitness center is adequate, with all new equipment, and you are just 11 blocks to Central Park. The hotel lobby is tiny, but that keeps non-guests out. Elevator requires a room key to get to any floor, so safety is high and you never see random people wandering the hotel floors. The service was outstanding and attentive. All employees greeted me in the halls, elevators, upon arriving or leaving. I liked it so much, I will stay here again before staying at the Waldorf, the Intercontinental or the Hyatt at Grand Central Station (my usual haunts in midtown).

HOWEVER: I would avoid the attached restaurant. We ate there twice, and each time was disappointing. A hamburger never came out properly cooked, even when sent back for a 2nd try. Their specialty chicken pot pie had a large bone in it. Portions were very small for the price. Iced tea was almost undrinkable as they mixed a flavored tea. The odd menu is more of a sampling of what a real restaurant might have for daily specials. Since this hotel is so well situated at the corner of Lexington and 48th, you are walking distance to a number of good restaurants. If you really want to splurge, walk one block to the Waldorf and eat at one of their restaurants. Too bad the restaurant here doesn't measure up to the hotel.

Room Tip: Get a higher floor to guarantee a quiet room. I liked the 20th floor - only 6 rooms on the floor, an...

We stayed at the Hyatt 48 and Lex for St. Patrick's Day and it was an incredible experience. The check in was flawless and the elevators were fast. Our room was a corner suite and the view was breathtaking, with floor to ceiling windows. And the room was soundproof, which was amazing considering how noisy the city is. We had coffee in the Lexicon Lounge which is complimentary and a drink at the bar attached to the hotel. They make a great Cosmo! Our room was super clean and this was by far the best hotel we have stayed in while visiting "the City". Would love to go back!!

This was our first experience at the new Hyatt, and what a treasure! Our room was upgraded and the views were amazing! The layout of the room was fabulous, the bed was one of the most comfortable ever with luxurious bedding and pillows, the bathroom had an amazing shower and the room was spotless. The staff was very helpful, the valet was attentive and the second floor lounge was a delicious treat to start the day or finish the night. This property is a gem located in a great area of Manhattan that is perfect for a romantic weekend.
