Pros:
1. The hotel has a very good location, very close to Times Square
2. The "wine hour" from 5-6 is fun
3. 2 bikes that can be used for free. We took them down to Central Park

Cons:
1. No business center. When I asked to print boarding passes, the front desk person handed me a laptop. It was so slow that I finally gave up
2. No heat in the rooms! After asking about this, we were told that the room heating system doesn't turn on (no matter what you do with the thermostat) until it's 51 degrees! Seriously? You can apparently request a heater to be sent up, but that information wasn't volunteered

We have stayed at Kimptons all over the country. But next time we're in NY, we'll stay elsewhere.

We were so excited to stay at this hotel. We were traveling with our two young children, celebrating my oldest’s Birthday. In the beginning everything was great. They even left two cupcakes and some popcorn for my boys, wishing my oldest a happy birthday. My husband travels 6 months out of the year for business, and stays in many hotels. I sought out this hotel for its cleanliness and good reviews. We unfortunately had the opposite experience. We paid for a kind executive suite, so it came with a pull out couch. They said they would make the bed for us while we were out. When we got back on night one, it was pretty late. We showered the boys and were getting them ready for bed when I checked the sheets on the pullout couch. Full of crumbs. My husband checked and it also had hair. Like someone had just shaved and got into bed and all those little tiny hairs were on the sheets. If I hadn’t checked, I would have put my babies to bed in a DIRTY bed! We called housekeeping and the sweetest housekeeper came up and tried to make it right. She was amazing and even said the sheets smelled. She changed them and then even changed our bed, because by that point I was extremely uncomfortable and ready to move to another hotel. Upon further inspection, we even found a dirty sock under the pullout couch as well (it obviously wasn’t ours). The front desk apologized, was told a manager would speak with us at checkout, and of course at checkout, no manager. In the end, it was a disappointing expensive stay. Our sense of security based on cleanliness was gone. We were very uncomfortable the rest of our stay. We probably won’t be staying at any kimptins anymore .

This is probably my new favorite hotel in NYC.

Despite the somewhat seedy location (it is just off Time Square, but the walk there is not that nice), the hotel is a great escape from the city. As the Kimpton chain joined the IHG I took the advantage of my free night to check it out (while usually staying at the Intercontinental). While the hotel is much smaller, the level of service received was much better and much more personable. It was clear that the people who work for Kimpton enjoy their work.

I have contacted the hotel before arrival, and while never heard back, we were pre-upgraded to one of the Executive suites. The room is large and well appointed. I did find it strange that the bathroom is not connected to the bed room itself but to the living room of the suite. But I guess that is what you can do when converting an old building to a hotel.

IHG status was recognize. The hotel also provides $15 a day in mini-bar or drinks in the bar (which we did not get the chance to use). Despite the status (but because the upgrade) we could not check in early – which was fine.

While the décor was not exactly my taste (think over the top modern) it was not that intrusive to be a problem.

The only slight problem was the horrible noise the elevators make in each floor (as if they are banging the wall).

I will sure be back.

My sisters and I returned after having stayed here about 6 months ago; we couldn't wait to come back! The concierge, Angel, aka, A.J., actually remembered us, which made us feel so welcome. He is a gem! Our room was beautiful and comfortable; all the staff with whom we interacted were so accommodating and friendly. This is a very special hotel in the Big Apple!!

My husband and I spent 5 nights in NYC for our anniversary. Kimpton meet our needs.Pros -- Good, convenient location, attentive staff, clean rooms with good sleeping quality. Other thoughts -- NYC hotel rooms are not known to be spacious. This room was large enough, however, I think the furniture choice (while it fit the ambiance) was not well used. I like to have some drawers to put close in and they were in short supply. THe largest piece of furniture was to keep the mini frig. Nice touch! I alerted to the hotel that this was may 30th anniversary. I got a lovely card, two deserts and a bottle of champange in my room when I arrived. BTW -- they have a wine happy hour each day -- I found the wine to be very so/so -- after one night of trying it -- I passed. THey should pick up their game there.

Room tip: Rooms don't seem to have much in terms of views.
