It was nice change to stay downtown after so many hotel experiences in the UES, Central Park, and Times SQ. One thing I liked about being down there was the easy walk to the water front, which is quiet and peaceful, and from whence you can travel quickly to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, etc.
Another plus is that staying at the Millenium pretty much forces you to learn the New York subway system, since cabbing it to the major attractions, including the major museums and Broadway is both quite expensive ($20-30) and time consuming. Fortunetely there are stops all around for trains to Time SQ, museum mile, UES, etc.
The Mellium itself is good old 3.5 star Hilton rooms and service; nothing wrong with that in my opinion especially when the overall feel and condition of this property is quite new.

Room Tip: The corner rooms ending in 01 and 12 feature 2 double beds, floor to ceiling windows, and two great...

Thank you for sharing this review about the Millenium Hilton! We are delighted to read that you enjoyed the change of location while staying at our Lower Manhattan hotel as opposed to midtown. We are glad you had the opportunity to see the local attractions yet still learn the subway system! We hope to have you back again soon.

Check in took 10 seconds. Room was spotless overlooking Ground Zero. Pool opens at 5:30am, but closes at 9:45pm. They charge for internet, what a dinosaur thing to do. They should just tweak the room rate and let us get online without a hassle.
if you park in the area, due to ongoing construction which have eliminated some outdoor garages in the neighborhood , so other than paying $55 for valet park, try the Battery Park Garage a few blocks south right on West St for $35.

Room Tip: think king

I just came back from staying here during one of the Hilton promotional packages. While I know it can be pricey to stay here during regular times, if you can snatch a deal then definitely stay here. I stayed on the 14th floor in a business suite, which was very big. The view was great- the WTC and construction of the new towers (the work was pretty constant but not bothersome at all. I've stayed in Times Square and it's much noisier there!). The hotel is located in a great spot too- multiple subway stations are literally steps away and Chinatown/Little Italy is in walking distance. Because the hotel is in the Financial District, it's pretty empty during the weekends and a short subway ride away from just about any attraction.

Side note: great toiletries. Peter Thomas Roth shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion and mouthwash. Great brand, nice extra touch.

We were visiting NYC in may 2012 with family . We had a family reunion in NYC . We chose this hotel because of the location and the kids wanted a swimming pool in the hotel .
The room had excellent views of the ground zero and Hudson river. Plus it's close proximity to century 21 was also an added bonus ;-) did not had to carry those shopping bags for long distances .
Did not had any meals so cannot comment on it but otherwise it was an excellent experience .
