We were shown to a table away from the window when there were two free tables in the window. On enquiring if we could take the table in the window, the lack of enthusiasm was palpable. The waiter seemed a bit condescending and initially gave us the wrong menus, only changing them when we asked about drinks – we wanted tea/coffee and ice cream. Having ordered, there was a long wait to be served during which we were ignored by the staff. Nobody brought us water or napkins and it was only later when we attracted the waiter’s notice that he realised we hadn’t been served. Ironically he saw and backed off before we had the chance to advise him of this. The ice cream was OK, but nothing special and, having been served two types of tea and a coffee we realised that, without explanation, they had left some syrup. There was no room for it on the ice cream, so what was it for? They then came and asked if we wanted the bill in a manner that suggested that they wanted us to have the bill (the restaurant was virtually empty and this was 4pm so I am not sure what the urgency was). I paid and we left. Can’t imagine we will ever be back, although fate plays some funny tricks.
