This is in the ABC Carpet store and we ate brunch there on Saturday AM. We wanted to make a reservation at the other restaurant there " abc kitchen" but the online reservation system said they had no reservations available, BUT when we got here to "PIPA" we could see into abc kitchen and there were like 30 empty tables....so don't trust the online reservations - call yourself. As for PIPA: The hostess was bland and not interested in being there. We were the ONLY people in the rest. (our reservation was 11:00 right when they opened) and she sat us in the VERY back of the place - they had nice tables right up front in the window that would have been much better. We sat there for 4 - 5 minutes before anyone noticed we were there, and then the server showed up. Service was FAIR - but food was excellent . I had eggs benidict with salmon - excellent. I would eat there again...but really would go to ABC kitchen first.

My husband and I ate here on a Saturday evening based on the recommendation of the concierge from our hotel. We were in the mood for tapas. This place did not disappoint. The tapas and ambiance were quite enjoyable. All of the chandeliers add a unique element to the restaurant. The fried cheese balls (they are called something else and are more elegant and interesting than I am implying) were quite good.

We also had an only-in-New York moment while dining. A casually dressed couple came in with their child in a stroller and one parent holding a paint can. They wandered in between the tables, pointing up and consulting each other. They eventually sought the help of the hostess to purchase one of the many chandeliers above, then went off on the rest of their evening. They did not actually leave the restaurant with the chandelier, which would have made the story more interesting but less true. Instead, a tag is placed on the chandeliers that have been purchased for a later delivery or pick-up.

This place used to be much better. The portions have become much smaller and the price is still very high for the value. The atmosphere is nice but so is the atmosphere in a lot of NYC restaurants. We spent a lot of $$ for dinner and left so hungry that we actually had to go out for a 2nd meal!

Great, affordable tapas. Good variety, octopus was very tender; Mushrooms very garlic-y, corn chowder creamy; spinach with dates delicious. Nice decor, cozy seating. The only bad thing was the live entertainment was so loud, it became impossible to have any conversation across a very small table.
