I suppose I may have been subjected to service this rude before but I’ve never paid this much for it. Faded glory, mediocre food and abrasive service. New York dining at its worst.

A celebratory birthday weekend was supposed to be capped by a memorable dining experience. Boy, what a mistake!

Perhaps a group of seven women was not welcome because the service we encountered was close to hostile.

Never again.

Nice atmosphere. Tried braised beef, very average. Bill didn’t make sense; tried to give us someone else’s bar charge!! Had I not looked at detail would have overpaid $50. Inexcusable for high end place. Overall can not recommend unless money is no object and you like mediocrity.

Came here for a "carb dinner" the night before the NYC Half Marathon in March 2018. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! First the location and decor. Barbetta claims of fame is to be the oldest Italian restaurant in NYC and in reality it looks like it has never been remodeled since it opened its doors at the beginning of the last century, the clientele is also ancient and I have nothing against elderly people but even joked with my wife that the average age of customers was easily over 80 years old and it felt we were having dinner in a nursing home. The food was OK, nothing stellar but overpriced. The wine list was mediocre to say the least and VERY overpriced. I will certainly never come back nor recommend to friends. There are many other better and more affordable options.

A lovely place. The food is delicious and the waiters where efficient, courteous and professional. When we entered we told them that we had to be out within 90 minutes, which they were able to do in 70 minutes. This included a 3 course meal and a wonderful cappuccino at the end. They were very accommodating when we ordered items which were not on the pre theater menu, linguini with pesto, which was superb! At no time did we ever feel that we were rushed. Whenever we get back to the theater district this will be the restaurant we will go to again and again.

Our group consisted of four couples aged 57 to 67. We went to Barbetta expecting excellent food, great atmosphere and outstanding service. All we got was the outstanding service. The food was bland, the portions were small and the selection was minimal. The desserts were not very good. The creme brulee was actually so cold that it had to be just out of the fridge. Three of us ordered it and they all were cold (they should be room temperature at the least). At a total cost (with tip) of over $100.00 a person, I should be raving about the restaurant, but there was nothing to rave about. We should have gone to Becco, which is 50 yards down the street. We will not be back.
