Description: To some, delicatessen is something you put between two slices of bread. To me, it's a calling. I am committed to preserving the traditional cuisine of my Eastern European heritage, amidst all that's required to operate a modern restaurant. This is our pledge, from the Ben's family to you: Fresh food, freshly prepared and courteously served in a clean, well-maintained restaurant faithfully observing the Kosher dietary laws. I urge you to bring anything less to my personal attention by calling 1-888-344-BENS or filling out my "Ask Ronnie" form and submitting it with your questions or comments. Your complete satisfaction is our goal. Any concerns will receive my prompt attention. - Ronnie Dragoon - Owner.

Ben's Kosher Delicatessen is about mid block on 38th street and Broadway, has that historical look from some of the old movies. This location is both a Delicatessen for take out, as well as a Restaurant for dine in. They have a pretty large menu of items and multiple choices of everything, from Sandwiches, Hot Dogs / Hamburgers, to hot meals. They also provide Coleslaw and Pickles as appetizer while you wait for your meal. The food is very good, and the staff very friendly, we went as a family and had multiple items, Pastrami Sandwich, Hot Dogs, Hamburger, Turkey Dinner, and Roast Beef .... all of the items were very good. We were visiting for a Wednesday afternoon play on 42nd street, and wanted to sample something local and ideally a bit historic, and found Ben's .... enjoyed the food and is only a short walk from the Theater's, and is not one of the national chain restaurants that you see along the street. If in the New York area, and want to experience local cuisine, would suggest trying Ben's Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant.

We stopped in for lunch while looking for a place to eat that was close to Penn Station. We were seated immediately. The waiter was friendly, service was quick. One opted for matzo ball soup and half a sandwich, and the other a deli sandwich of roast beef on rye with Russian dressing (no cheese here, as it's Kosher). It was all delicious.

Third time we have gone now and every time it is great. Pickles and cole slaw to start then matzo ball soup and half pastrami. Potato pancake was good too.

We normally go to that deli downtown but we were in mid-town and did not want to make the journey. Brother-in-law had Ben's noted in his phone from an article he had read in the past and I'm glad he did. Ben's is a great deli in mid-town just a few blocks from Penn Station and is a great location. Half sours were excellent, not as salty as other pickles and this was a pleasant surprise. Be aware that extra-lean corn beef and brisket can be very lean and this might not be what you would normally get in other delis. Service was very good. It's an interesting place not the normal feel of a deli. Now Ben's will be our go to deli in mid-town.
