I chose Gramercy Park Hotel based on its unique decor and being the highest number of SPG points per stay in New York City. I had one of the worst hotel stays I have ever had for a hotel in this category. I stayed in Room 1609.

- Worst: being kept up until 1:00am with extremely loud wedding party music. (I was watching the clock.)
- Worse: Called front desk at 11:30pm to complain. The man said, "I don't know what you are talking about."
- Worse: I paid $30 for an upgrade to that room. Had I been told there were a large wedding party going on until 1am, I would have definitely kept my smaller room facing the back.
- Worse: Housekeeping woke us up at 10:00! Have never had housekeeping wake us up on the day of checkout.
- Even worse: we were told at checkin the hotel has two bars, but only on trying to enter Rose Bar were we told it's only open to certain people.
- culmination: During checkout, I noted all of the above. Dan said, there is nothing we can do. He seemed more smug and apathetic than apologetic. He said the wedding party was a last minute proposal. This seemed unlikely, because the wedding party was a large party in Black Tie attire and with people of many generations-- it seemed hardly spontaneous. Regardless, the front desk should not have given us the room.

Pros:
- The access to the private Gramercy Park was a nice perk.
- Enjoyed Mailiano for brunch and dinner. Glad they had Gluten Free options, including bread and pasta.

Minor:
- There was only one facecloth in the room.
- The TV was facing the wrong direction. Only if you lay lengthwise on the couch could you relax to watch TV. The bed does not face the TV, as it is in the wall to the left of the TV.
- All the lights are manual, so after turndown, to shut off all the lights, one has to do a lot of walking around and finding light switches.

We stayed for a night in a suite. The room was outstanding - quirky but cool decoration, comfortable bed, proper blackout drapes and a great bathroom. The drinks cabinet was an attraction in its own right. Bar was fun although effectively turned into a nightclub late Saturday - fairly sure the music was turned up to 11 to get the older patrons out! Staff were helpful and friendly throughout. Also you get access to the private park. All in all a great hotel.

Stunning art experience throughout hotel. Helpful staff, only complaints 1) cramped/disorderly registration area, 2) tiny bathrooms 3) overpriced mediocre food. Grand rooms are perfectly maintained throughout. Enjoyed the private park. Try the lovely local salumeria!

Tree lined streets, access to the park and a quieter feel was just what we needed for our trip. We chose this hotel because it had good ratings and was close to the dorm we were moving our daughter into...but once we got there we knew we would keep coming back. It's intimate nature while being slightly odd in its style was a welcome change to the traditional NYC hotels. It does take a little bit to adjust to its dim lighting and dark walls but don't let that stop you from enjoying this hotel. The rooms were comfortable, unique and quiet. Our shower was amazing! It was like standing in a waterfall. The amenities were special and the bed was comfortable. Walking through the park was very nice and I highly recommend it (just ask the doorman to unlock the gate). The staff were very helpful and accommodating as well. We had a late afternoon snack and breakfast in the restaurant which was delicious. We will return!

Room Tip: If you don't book a room with a park view try and get a room nearest the park on Lexington and you can still see the park from your room.

Located in the centre of Gramercy, this hotel is one of your choice if you are looking for place to stay quiet. The neighbor is humble atmosphere for megalopolis in a sense that what I like here. The cafe downstair for breakfast is very nice, and restaurant on the top floor is very nice as well.
Unfortunately, the room itself is a bit out-dated for this class hotel.
If you can spend more than $700 / room, this hotel will be a good choice, the cheapest room is dark, and its out-dated points easily appear on your sight.

Room Tip: The cheapest room is not worth for paying.
