Very organized process. You line up, they give you a wrist band and a ticket with either a letter... read more
We saw the show by getting standby tickets and waiting in line. We were 26 and 27 and got in by the skin of our teeth! But the entire 30 Rock staff was great-they enforce the rules but it makes it more fair. The show itself was incredible and Jimmy interacted with the crowd. I’d recommend advance tickets if you can, but if you do standby definitely get there early!!
The process to get tickets online is not an easy one but not totally impossible either. If you can't get tickets when you want them online, you can get standby tickets if you are willing to get up early and wait! We went at 5 am on a Thursday and were the first people in line. They ended up taking 16 people from the standby line for tickets that night for the Thursday show. The nice thing about lining up for standby tickets on Thursday is that you have two chances because they tape the Thursday and Friday shows on Thursday. When the pages come out at 9 a.m. to give you your standby tickets, they ask you which show you want to go to. It was such an awesome experience and well worth the wait!
It was very cool to experience the Tonight Show. I was lucky in that I have worked in tv and happened to work at one point for NBC so I was able to score seats rather easily to the Tonight Show. Even working in television I was curious as to how it all came together. Basically you go through security and get wrist bands and they totally randomly Gige you seats. Our tickets were marked VIP but all this really did was give us a separate space to sit in the peacock lounge and then we were given aisle seating at the show. That was fun because both my husband and I high-fived Jimmy at end of taping. We sat about 7 or 8 rows up. You will be surprised how quickly the show is taped and to learn that Jimmy Fallon is a very soft spoken guy. He was nice but did not interact with the audience that much. Overall, so fun.
I went today with 3 of my friends. None of us were impressed. To be 100% honest with you, ALL of us would rather watch it on YouTube (so we can skip parts) rather than to watch it live. Not worth it. Totally changed my perspective of the show. So boring. People are rude and stiff and boring as hell. Don’t feel welcomed.
RUDE PEOPLE. The staff are so stiff and RUDE. Only 1 guy was nice and smiley. The rest force their smile and niceness. Don’t feel welcomed at all. A staff was straight up rude.
Okay why so? Since the beginning when u r just lining up for ticketing, they keep saying “no photographs at all or u will be kicked out” . No one is taking pics okay. Then SIGNS allll over the place “no food no drinks no photos”. Fine ppl get it okay. But it doesn’t stop they keep repeating which is still acceptable. But then they keep threatening everyone they gonna KICK OUT people if anyone misbehave. No chill.
During the ticketing the lady ask us “u guys excited? Well if u r not we gonna kick u guys out” .... awkward silence then she was like “just kidding please move aside” ummm not laughing not funny thanks. Again... throughout waiting just keep saying the same stuff and ofc “we gonna kick u guys out if blabla”
then we get into the studio, waiting, i realized my phone wasn’t turned off, so i pull it out and try to turn it off but it was a bit slow and laggy and it was stayin on instagram page. I am not scrolling or checking anyth it was left on ig before the phone was locked that’s all, and a staff came up, was talking very rudely “put away ur phone or we gonna kick u out” i said “yea im turning it off” she said “put it away or i gonna kick u out, (pointing at me), u r on instagram, and u r texting” i said again “im turning it off (while im like keep pressing the off button but it was laggy.... so it just take long time thats all. she didn’t see im freakin pressing it?? And im obeying to turn it off its not that I don’t want to turn it off wth?). She says “put it away don’t use it throughout the show or we will kick u out” i said “yes” (cos i know and I understand but IM JUST TURNING IT OFF.....) She goes “if you have an attitude we gonna kick u out too, understand?!”
And..... few minutes before the show starts, a crew sits infront of me near the camera, literally commenting on girls pictures on instagram casually. How ironic.
Addition, also the opening guy who like entertain u before the show, says “u guys enjoy the show, well u guys are here for free so remember that it’s free” like we have to be grateful that we’re here and they don’t need us kind of feeling -.-
Jimmy himself... he is boring... not impressive. So fake. My friend who is a big fan of him even got sleepy watching him. I was thinking like watching him from YouTube is so much better i would be able to skip all this crap. The most entertaining part was interview with Wendy Williams. Cos she is just entertaining.
Plus. Jimmy doesn’t say hi to the audience. The audience isn’t like a family of the show. We just there as a prop. They don’t respect us as an audience.
I went to wendy williams show before and it was the most entertaining and family-like show ever 180 degree from this crap. You may think all the crap abt wendy but in her show, the welcome you as a family, they thank you for being an audience member and they say the wouldn’t be able to do it without us. Everyone telling abt no phone thing nicely in non offensive way. And prople REALLY enjoy the show. Wendy talks to the audience and stands in the crowd during breaks. She shakes hands with ppl and take selfies. And it was a LIVE show. Jimmy was a freaking taping and all the staff don’t trust us. They standing in the middle of the audience during breaks and looking like airport security.
Everyone looks exactly the same in person so it’s not worth it to come all the way or if u wanna do stand by ticket. There’s no interaction or feeling of belongingness. Better watch it on tv/ youtube or else your view abt the show will change. Like me, i hate it now. I used to like it but now i am really dissatisfied and disappointed. They treat audiences like crap.
We were visiting New York during the first week in March and at the top of our list for things we wanted to do was attend a Tonight Show taping as we are big fans of the show and Jimmy Fallon. My husband and I both made accounts on 1iota.com and were online at exactly 11:30AM the day the tickets became available to try to get on the wait list. We each requested 3 dates (which is the max you are allowed to request) and then played the waiting game. Exactly 2 weeks before our first taping request (it was on a a Monday) I got an email saying we had been CONFIRMED for two tickets!!! We were so ecstatic!
After checking in at 30 Rockefeller Plaza and waiting in line. we went through security, were given our tickets, and then were held in the Peacock lounge for about an hour until it was time to enter the studio. During this time, the NBC pages will come around and chat with you and take your picture if you like. Then we lined up according to the letter on the back of our ticket and entered the studio.
The NBC pages will seat you, and we were lucky enough to get great seats on the aisle, so I knew I was gonna get a high five from Jimmy! After the warm-up guy comes out and gets the crowd ready the show starts and moves very quickly. The Roots played some great music and during our show the entire Women's Olympic Hockey Team was on, which was really cool The absolute best moment was before the musical performance when Jimmy came up into the audience and answered questions some questions. IT WAS AMAZING and Jimmy is such a kind and down-to-earth person. We really appreciated him doing that as he certainly didn't have to, but it really made the experience one I will never forget.
We "only" saw the monologue rehearsal.....was bummed not to get show tickeys, but it was still a great experience! Jimmy is so funny and so cute! He taped 2 shows our day of rehearsal, so we saw the run through of jokes for TWO monologues plus a sketch and THANK YOUS!!!! not a ton of waiting--we showed uo WAY early to the check in. They don't let you loiter around there....so hung out downstairs in one of the Rockefeller concourse eating places until it was time to go up. My tip: getting up the stairs first doesn't matter as far as where you sit in the audience. You have to wait in a sitting area all together before lining up. But once you line up from the coych lounge place, you'll be in the order which you'll have to enter the studio and sit. Ie: front row seating will be at the front of the line leaving the couch seating area. ( which is the holding spot right past security). If you want to be near the front, stay closer to the big stairs 'entrance '. To line up and go in, you'll line the round wall that goes back around the staircase. Then you'll go up the elevators and conglomerate in a landing. Those closest to the 6B hallway (sign above the hallway) go in first/ get first seating. ......but it's a small theatre, much smaller than i thought!--all seats are great!
